For BOM Away Monday, I am showcasing Block 4 of Hampton Ridge. I’m really happy to have gotten block 4 finished since I received the November package last Wednesday. I’m still on schedule and the plan is to get one of these blocks done each week (there are 4 blocks per month). Check out more finished BOMs at
For Design Wall Monday, my wall hasn’t changed much since last week. I have step 5 of Missing Ivy up in the center along with Block 2 of A Rainbow Garden on the left and the 4 blocks of Hampton Ridge on the right. A bunch of different things to remind myself of the various projects I’ve got going on right now. Check out more design walls at Patchwork Times.
We received the first step of Bonnie Hunter’s Celtic Solstice Mystery last Friday and I’ve been working on it all weekend.
I misread the instructions and made 240 Orange triangles instead of 140. I realized my mistake after I cut it but before I started piecing the blue parts with the orange parts so at least I didn’t have to rip out. I just have 100 extra orange triangles. And, I may have to buy more orange fabric to make up for it. 🙁
But I was able to also cut the 240 Neutral (white) triangles…
And today, I was able to finish piecing the 140 orange/blue sets. But I was only able to do 77 white/blue sets. I’ll be doing a little bit tomorrow and Tuesday but I’ll be travelling to LA on Wednesday until Friday, and we’ve got another cheer competition on Saturday so… I do not know how much I’ll be able to do before the next clue. C’est la vie! I’ll be doing my best and hoping to stay on top of everything.
To see more progress on clue #1 of Bonnie Hunter’s mystery quilt, check her out.
That’s a whole lot of stuff to report on Monday so I thought I’d get this out Sunday evening to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Happy quilting everyone!
~Wish I was quilting.

Good thing you caught your mistake or you’d be running short of blue, too! Looking good. Love your bright clear colors.
I know! As much as I hated myself for doing it I was relieved to have caught it when I did!
Fantastic post – Your Hampton Ridge block looks absolutely perfect. 🙂 And so much work finished on the BH mystery – Way To Go!! Bummer about the extra oranges cut out, but much better than having to rip out that many or having cut alllll the triangles too small… It’s going to be gorgeous. Love your fabrics.
Thanks Lynette!
I am sure you will find a use for those extra oranges somewhere!
I sure hope so! 😉
Your blue blocks are lovely. What is this Celtic Solstice thing that everyone else seems to know about except me? Also, what cutting method do you use for those triangles? Are you rotary cutting them with specialty rulers, cutting them the traditional way and then trimming the points in a second step, or do you use one of those Accuquilt GO cutters? The oranges, blues and whites look very pretty together.
Thanks Rebecca! Google Bonnie Hunter Celtic Solstice and it will pop up. Or you can click on the link in my post. It’s a little buried in the text so a google search may be easier. I use the Tri-Recs ruler for these, which is what Bonnie Hunter recommended but she offered up a number of ways to do them. I had the ruler already for another WIP so I was really happy to have a use for these again! These rulers have a special notch so that you do not have trim that much but there is 1 set of dog ears that need to be trimmed. It’s not that bad though considering there could have been more. 😄 hope you join the fun. There’s still plenty of time!
The extra orange triangles will just mean you are one step ahead in a future project! 🙂
I love that! Thank you. Melanie
Nice blocks. Sounds to me like you have your borders started with the extra orange triangles. You DO remember how Bonnie loves the pieced borders LOL

thanks Beverly! I didn’t know! I’ve only done easy street before so if I use these triangles somewhere else then I’m happy!!!!
Looking good!
thank you!
