Tell It To The Stars!
back
6/3/2015

I haven’t made it yet to my LQS to get border fabric for Scrapitude so I’ve been piecing the back together for Tell It To The Stars.  I’ve found when I feel lost or at a standstill simply tackling the first doable item on my list helps get me going.  It’s almost done.  I actually like it.  I’ve even piece the label on it.  I made the mistake of putting May 2015 as the finish date but I’m not going back in to change that.  I’ll just get this done as soon as possible. 🙂  The back is not yet big enough so I’m debating if I should continue to piece the remaining hand dyed fabric that came with the kit or if I should add to the back with the extra gray fabric that I bought for this project.  If I piece the hand dyed fabric together – it will take a lot more time than using the gray fabric.  And I don’t really think it will be worth it.  Most of it will be cut off once I trim it after it’s been quilted.  I’m leaning towards using the gray.  What do you guys think?

  1. I love the backing fabric…especially that one strip in the upper right section, it reminds me of a sunset. I like the idea of sewing the label on before sandwiching the quilt, I guess is all depends on how it will be quilted.
IMHO, if you’re going to cut off most of the hand dyed fabric after quilting then I say don’t use it. Can’t wait to see it all finished!

  2. Congratulations on keeping the process moving forward. Sometimes that is the hardest part. I think gray would make a nice frame for the backing, especially if most is to be cut off.

  3. Gray would look good and for the reason you mentioned, be a good choice. I always try to put something that doesn’t matter on the edges. Once I had an intricately pieced strip that lost some of its pizazz, so I learned.
