So I’ve been to the doctor and the report is not great. Of course, I’m okay. Relatively healthy. Nothing truly serious. But basically, if I don’t start changing my diet and way of life now, that’s going to change. It’s not like in my 20’s when I knew I wasn’t eating right or exercising or doing what I’m supposed to. My metabolism was high and every time I needed to lose weight it was easy to spend a few weeks at the gym and results were pretty quick. In my 30’s it was harder to lose weight and my metabolism slowly decreased. I stayed pretty even though towards the latter half until recently. Suddenly, despite going to yoga pretty regularly and not changing my diet I gained 15 pounds in less than 6 months.
Goodbye 30’s. Hello 40’s.
I believe something is going on inside that contributed to the weight gain. The only thing that came out of my recent doctor visits was high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and fibroids. I’ve never had high cholesterol or high blood pressure. I could have had fibroids but without doing a pelvic ultrasound, I would not have known I had them. Anyway, I don’t want to take meds so I’m going to take the next three months and drastically change my way of living. Hopefully, my cholesterol and blood pressure go down. The docs didn’t give me any suggestions as to how to get rid of fibroids. I’ve got a small one at 2cm inside my uterus and clusters around both my ovaries. Apparently all too small to do anything with. I’m not sure if a change of diet will get rid of them but I have a feeling that a change of diet will help prevent more but not get rid of what I’ve got. I don’t know but I’m sure eating better and exercising more will not hurt the fibroids.
So I’m still continuing my path to regularly attend yoga 5 x per week. Right now I’m consistently going 2x and I’m working towards getting it to 3x per week. I’ve also started walking around the neighborhood before heading to work every day. That’s help with my step count. My original daily step goal was 7,000 (I know it’s not a lot but I sit at my desk all day!). I’ve recently increased that to 8,000 and I will want to increase that as I get accustomed to each mini milestone. I feel like I should be doing more but I don’t know where I’ll find the time to add more. One step at a time.
So I’m going to start on the Paleo and NO SUGAR diet (because in addition to everything else, I’m Pre-Diabetic!). 🙁
