2018 Crafty Plan – February Recap

  • Mama’s Bukid – Finish Row 8 and 9 of Page 5
    • UPDATE – I finished row 8, row 9 and I’m pretty darn close to row 10. I haven’t taken an updated picture since yesterday so we’ll have to make due with the most recent one I’ve got.

and so you can see my progress from the beginning of the month, here’ s a pic of what it looked like then.

Mama’s Bukid
01/31/2018

It’s fun to see the progress on these long term projects.

  • Gamer Nouveau – Finish prepping the fabric and start Page 1
    • UPDATE – I’m about halfway through Page 1.  As I’ve said, this is not my primary project. Mama’s Bukid is my primary project but I do try to get one thread stitched on each night. And while I’m not able to do it every night, I’m able to do it most nights.

  • Kayla’s Weasley Sweater – Finish the sleeves. I am planning on doing a RS (right side) and WS (wrong side) on each sleeve a day and spend Thursday night Knit Nights working on it.  I hope that’s enough time to finish up the sleeves in February.
    • UPDATE – I’ve been working on this project but I’m not sure how much longer I need to knit the sleeves. I’m pretty sure I’m not finished yet but I need to have Kayla try it on to see how we are.
  • The February socks in Knitting Expat’s Sock Club.
    • UPDATE – I am working on the leg.  My plan is to have the heels done this weekend and that should put me in line with getting these done this month.
    • Update – These were finished in the nick of time on 2/28/18!
  • Martine Hat – Finish the hat. I’m currently working on the hat part but I’m almost to the point where I can start the decrease.
    • UPDATE – This is finished!

  • Celtic Solstice – Finish the back together and quilt this
    • UPDATE – I maybe wanted to do too much for this task.  I was able to get the back almost done at 100″x120″.  I need it to be 120″x120″ so I’m a little short.  But since we’re out of town this weekend and next weekend is QuiltCon I will not be able to work on this again until March 3rd!  So, this is on hold until then.

  • So I pulled out fabric and tried to get the last 20″ done and I just couldn’t do it.  I didn’t have enough scraps left over and the easiest way to do it would be to get 2 yards, cut it and piece it together.  The problem is that my 1-2 yard stash is at the bottom of my bins and I am in no mood to pull them out and go through them.

  • Enjoy QuiltCon!
    • UPDATE! I didn’t buy anything except the QuiltCon bag and a MQG project bag.  I thought I would get some of the accuquilt square dies but they do not have much in terms of specials so I can always get those another time.  I haven’t used the dies I currently have enough to warrant buying more. So no fabric, no purchases other than the bags mentioned previously.  I did look for shirts and things but didn’t really see anything I liked.  I think I really want to use the stuff I have and I’ve bought a lot these first couple months of the year that I’m feeling drained.

Monday’s POA – week 9, 2018

Lake Tahoe
02/17/2018

Here were my goals from last week:

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 10 – get halfway through row 10. ==> DONE!
  • Celtic Solstice – finish piecing the backing – Again, I’m not going to be able to do this this week.  This weekend is QuiltCon so I will not be able to get to this project over the weekend. ==> I hope to get to this this coming weekend. I have some errands to run and some major tasks (my corporate taxes is one of them) but I hope I will be able to get this done this coming weekend.
  • Rainbow Garden – Since I’ll be at QuiltCon this weekend this is another project I will not be able to work on.  Oh well.  I’m really excited about hanging out at QuiltCon and hopefully meet some fellow Twilters! ==> I spent some time at QuiltCon but with our trip last weekend I was not feeling the itch to be at QuiltCon. I have to remember this next time around not to plan too many things one weekend after another.
  • Knitting projects:
    • Warm and Snug socks – February pattern for the Cosy Sock Club
      • Work on the foot this week. I finished the heels this weekend and now I’m working on the foot.  I hope to get a lot of the foot done this week so I can finish these socks by next week.  I think I’m right on schedule.  I’m sure faster knitters are laughing at me right now but it’s all stockinette knitting and it is so BORING. I can’t sit and do round after round of stockinette knitting.  Instead I try to do about 5 rounds per day so by the end of this week I should be at the 35 round mark.  I need about 48 rounds for my foot so if I follow the plan I should be on track for finishing next week. 🙂
        • ==> DONE!
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – continue to work on the sleeves ==> DONE!
    • Cowl – continue to do a round a day on this project. ==> DONE!

And for this week’s goals, here’s what I want to get done.

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 10 – FINISH ROW 10
  • Celtic Solstice – finish piecing the backing!
  • I also need to get a list of my UFOs jotted down for my guild meeting in a couple of weeks.  We are doing a UFO challenge and I’m not sure what UFOs I have. I know I have a bunch but it’s always helpful to have a list so I can be mindful of what I’m working on.
  • Rainbow Garden – do a little bit of work on this on Sunday.
  • Knitting projects:
    • Warm and Snug socks – February pattern for the Cosy Sock Club
      • I have one more stripe for the foot and then I plan to finish the toes and this project will be a done. And since I used 2 balls of knit picks felici, that’s 2 balls I can mark on my “used” yarn for this week.
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – continue to work on the sleeves.  I am at the point where I need to have Kayla try this on.  That will tell me how much longer I need to go.
    • Cowl – continue to do a round a day on this project.

Happy Crafting!

Monday’s POA – week 8, 2018

We’ll be heading home today.  My family loves a good road trip so hopefully the roads are clear.

Here were my goals from last week:

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, finish row 9 – I actually almost have half of row 9 done.  So I would really like to get through all of row 9 this week!
    • UPDATE – DONE!
  • Celtic Solstice – finish piecing the backing – I’m not going to be able to do this this week.  We will be out of town this weekend celebrating the long weekend so I will not be able to do the massive piecing this requires.
  • Rainbow Garden – work a bit on it on Sunday
    • UPDATE – DONE!
  • Knitting projects:
    • Warm and Snug socks – February pattern for the Cosy Sock Club
      • finish the leg so I can do the heels this coming weekend.
      • UPDATE – DONE!  This was a bit of a cheat as I just decided that I would work on the leg last week and wherever I was Friday I would start the heels.  And so I did.
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – continue to work on the sleeves
      • UPDATE – DONE!  I’m not done with the sleeves but I’m still working on it.  I didn’t take this project with me to Tahoe so I didn’t work on it this weekend but I’ll continue to work on it this week.
    • Cowl – since I finished the Martine hat, I moved my Cowl to one of the top 3 primary projects I work on each week.
      • UPDATE – DONE!  I have been working a bit on this project every day when I can.  This is the third item on my daily knitting projects so I do not always get to it every day.  But I do on most days so I am seeing a lot of progress on this one.

And for this week’s goals, here’s what I want to get done.

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 10 – get halfway through row 10.
  • Celtic Solstice – finish piecing the backing – Again, I’m not going to be able to do this this week.  This weekend is QuiltCon so I will not be able to get to this project over the weekend.

2018 Crafty Plan – February Update

Happy Birthday to the hubby!  Yes, his birthday is the day after Love day.

  • Mama’s Bukid – Finish Row 8 and 9 of Page 5
    • UPDATE – I finished row 8 and I’m halfway through row 9.

  • Gamer Nouveau – Finish prepping the fabric and start Page 1
    • UPDATE – I got the part I needed prepped and I started on Page 1.  Since my primary focus is Mama’s Bukid I don’t have any really goals for this project other than to work on it at least weekly.  Because I really want to work on this all the time, I’m not having any problems working on this project.

  • Kayla’s Weasley Sweater – Finish the sleeves. I am planning on doing a RS (right side) and WS (wrong side) on each sleeve a day and spend Thursday night Knit Nights working on it.  I hope that’s enough time to finish up the sleeves in February.
    • UPDATE – I’m about 1/3rd to half way through both sleeves.  I’m working them both at the same time.  I’m not sure I will be able to get the sleeves done this month because it’s a bit tedious but I’m working a bit every day and as long as I continue to do that, I’m happy for whatever progress I make this month.
  • The February socks in Knitting Expat’s Sock Club.
    • UPDATE – I am working on the leg.  My plan is to have the heels done this weekend and that should put me in line with getting these done this month.

  • Enjoy QuiltCon!
    • UPDATE! Of course, my plan is to enjoy QuiltCon! Unfortunately, my Road2CA galpal will be up in Santa Clara enjoying Stitches West. I’m not sure why these two were planned for the same weekend but someone will need to get their act together. Okay, maybe not. Thankfully, QuiltCon is only on this coast every other year so my plan is to attend Stitches West next year when QuiltCon is on the East Coast. I am not planning on buying anything but have got my eye on a few things. Quilter’s paraphernalia (t-shirts, bags, etc) is at the top of the list.  But my budget for QuiltCon is MUCH lower than my budget for Road was.

Monday’s Plan of Action for week 5, 2018

Since I was at Road2CA last weekend, I wasn’t able to prep my Monday’s POA post for last week.  So here were the specific crafty goals I made two weeks ago:

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page 5, Row 7 – I realized last week that somewhere along the way my numbers got messed up.  I’m actually in the middle of row 7 right now and I’d like to finish row 7 this week.  There are 14 rows on one page so when I finish this I’ll be halfway through page 2! – DONE
  • Resfeder socks – finish the heel – DONE
  • Christmas socks – finish the toes, kitchener, take a picture and post to ravelry. – DONE
  • Harry Potter Weasley Sweater for daughter – I’d like to create a page so that I can take appropriate pictures to make it easier for me/you to find and rip out the sleeve portion I’ve already done and redo it a bit bigger. – DONE
  • Celtic Solstice – Continue piecing the back together. – WORKING ON THIS
  • I’ve got Road2CA this week! – YAY, IT WAS FUN!

And for this week’s goals, here’s what I want to get done.

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, Row 8
  • Celtic Solstice – continue piecing the backing
  • Maxwell Bag – work on the handle
  • Rainbow Garden – pull this out again and work a bit on it on Sunday
  • Knitting projects:
    • Spattergroit until 2/1 when the next sock pattern comes out from the sock collection I’ve signed up with.
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – continue to work on the sleeves
    • Martine Hat – do a round or two each day
