Finished binding the quilt 7/25/2017

Details:

Fabric:
I’ve set aside 15.5 yards of fabric for this quilt.
5 yards – Background – white with white flowers on it, some have dragonflies, and some have dots. They came in the 12 pound grab bag from the Fat Quarter Shop. So I’m not sure of the line. I’ll try to see if its on a salvage some where.

4 yards – dark blue batik
2 yards medium blue –

4 yards – yellow- some from my stash, but 2 yards that I recently purchased.

Size:

It will be machine pieced.

Pattern is the Road to Brenham Quilt from Judy at Patchwork Times in August, 2013

According to Judy, the finished size of the quilt will be 96″ x 96″.

Story:

I just finished Kayla’s Thirties Quilt and my daughter loved it. As always I was checking out the blogs online and came across Judy’s Road to Brenham quilt along. It started 8/12/13. She’d mentioned it a few times and each time I’d look at it and say to myself and whoever was around me that it was a pretty quilt. I wanted to do it but I just didn’t (and I still don’t) have the time. So I ignored it. And then the quilt along started. Last week, my Kayla happened to be with me when I showed it to her. She absolutely loved it and asked me to make it for her. As you may know, we recently moved and she started a new school last Wednesday. She’s in 7th grade and missing her old school and friends. The colors of the quilt on Judy’s site is blue and yellow – these are the colors of her old school. She wants me to make this quilt because it reminds her of her old school and all her friends. My heart broke and now I have an excuse to put all other UFOs aside and put this on my WIP list. Even though Judy’s quilt along is almost done, I’ve printed all the instructions so far and will be working on this in addition to the other items on my WIP list.  Beginning 9/8/13, I changed the name of this quilt from “Road to Brenham” which is what Judy calls it to “Missing Ivy”.

This is the neutral that I’m using and love.  I think I first got this fabric from one of the grab bags I got from TheFatQuarterShop.com but I used it all up within the first 5 steps.  I went online and searched until I found more to buy and ended up getting 5 yards of it. 🙂 When you find fabric you absolutely love – just get it!

Here’s where I am at with this project so far.  Now that Celtic Solstice started (11/29/13), this is again going on the back burner while I stay caught up with that Bonnie Hunter mystery.  Hopefully I’m still able to work on it a little.
