Jacob’s First Quilt

Year: 2008 – 2013

Size: lap quilt ( I probably need to take real measurements as it looks to be more like a twin or somewhere between lap size and a twin)

At my local quilt shop in Los Angeles, Quilt Emporium, I took the class “My First Quilt” as a way to learn how to machine piece and machine quilt. I started quilting with the traditional hand piecing and hand quilting method and while I enjoyed it needed to learn how to do it much faster. So I used this class as an opportunity to make my son a quilt. The top is 100% cotton but the back is fleece so that it is soft and cuddly.

I took the class in 2008 and finished the top pretty quickly. I finished quilting and binding it in 2009 and gave it to my son. I always knew I needed to put a label on it and never did until now. So I’m counting this as a finish for 2013 since it is now officially done and off my list of things I need to do.
