New start: 2025 Nutcracker
At the last SoCal Stitcher retreat last September, one of our friends brought this finished to show and tell. I loved it. I’m not normally one for a holiday stitch but I loved it and bought the pattern right then and there. It took me a few months to kit it all up for reasons… primarily because I’m trying to buy from shops rather than online.
Fabric: 28 count Lugana “Whisper”
Floss: Called for DMC

When I was in Colorado a couple of weeks ago, I stopped off at A Stitching Shop and remembered to kit this up.
A few other patterns may have come home with me as well…

Rebel Stitchers’ “Disagree”
I started this at the last stitchy retreat. I had seen this pattern on Facebook and posted it telling people if they are looking for a gift for me, this is what to get. Well one of my friends gifted it to me and of course, I had to start it right away.
I spent some time stitching during a basketball game and was able to finish the flower. Here’s where I am now.
Since I started it at the retreat, I bought my fabric and floss from Live & Dye LA who were vendors at the retreat.

SoCal Stitchers Retreat – Temecula-an update
And my last stitchy retreat in 2025 is done.
Here’s how I did with my project plan:
Thursday – I arrived just twenty minutes after 3 and my stitchy friends saved me a seat so I got to chat and catch up with them. So much better than the Big Bear retreat.
My project for the day was Gamer:
Friday – ended up visiting the LQS in Old Town Temecula and bought a new ruler and some needles.
Project of the day: MFE 2023
I brought my daily projects with me and as always hoped to spend 15 minutes a day on them.
My knitting:
“Preamble” – didn’t bring to work on
“Spooky Halloween” – didn’t bring to work on
I actually ended up working on some other stitchy WIPs I brought.
Saturday –
Project for the day: Titania
At the last retreat, I was missing 2 colors of floss, 472 and 3823. I found 472 but could not find 3823 so on Thursday I stopped off at the big box craft store ‘M’ and picked a couple of skeins up.
And I pulled out my old needlepoint project: East meets southwest by Margaret Bendig
Sunday: day to go home.
Project of the day: Blossoms

As always I had a great time reconnecting with old friends. I do not see a lot of these ladies except at these stitchy retreats and it was nice to see everyone again. A lot of enabling was done and I came out of there with 3 new patterns and 1 new start. One of the ladies tracks her stitchy projects in a binder and I got to see what she does and now I have grand plans of making my own.

SoCal Stitchers Retreat – Temecula
As I get ready for the final SoCal Stitcher’s Retreat in 2025, here’s my new project plan:
Thursday – We can’t check in until 3pm so I plan to work in the morning and leave my place around noon. It takes about 2.5-3 hours to get there with mid day traffic so I think that will work out fine.
My project for the day is Gamer:
Friday -I plan to work in the morning at a local Starbucks between breakfast and lunch so I can take care of anything urgent that may come up.
Project of the day: MFE 2023
I will also bring my daily projects with me and as always hope to spend 15 minutes a day on them.
My knitting: I need to take a more current picture of my new start. I’m well on my way through the foot part. And depending on how my hand feels I do about 1-2 rows per day.
