Another big sale at the LQS and I couldn’t help myself. 50% off – how can a girl say no? I’ve been on a buying binge lately and I’m okay with it. I haven’t been able to quilt as much the last few weeks and to compensate for the lack of playing I buy. So plus 10 yards. I’m not going to the quilt shop this week but I will be there next. I’m sure I’ll be buying more stuff then too. The shop is doing a Downtown Abbey Tea and I’m sure I’ll be enjoying and supporting my LQS. 🙂
I did make a small pouch.
So I used half a yard to make this. And it came directly from my stash. I consider that an added bonus! I took a class at the LQS to make this. I’ve been wanting to get into making bags but the instructions I find online and in the patterns confuse me. So I’m opting to take whatever bag making classes I can until I feel confident and can follow the instructions without getting confused and messing things up.
For Tell It To The Stars – I finished the November Clue! I forgot to take a picture of it before I packed it up and put it away for next month. Can you believe that’s next week already? I’m screaming inside …
I’m also slowly working on my placemats and table runner. I’ve got the tops made and 3 of the mats backs done. I still have to finish the other 3 backs for the mats and the back for the runner. I want to work on some of that today but I’m in the middle of a work project. So – I’m not sure how much time I’ll be able to get to work on this today. I purchased 6 yards of fabric a few weeks ago and I think most of it will be counted as used once I get this done. That’s a great thing! I really should start working on little things like this so that I can add finishes here and there in the middle of my bigger projects.
Even though I’m adding to my stash – I’m not going to beat myself up over it. I’ve been working a lot these last few months and I’m not able to spend as much time as I’d like quilting or knitting or gardening. So I’m going to support my local quilt shop by buying fabric. In retrospect, I reviewed my numbers from last year and I’m just a little half way where I was last year. Meaning, I only added to my stash half as much as I added last year. I would look at that as an improvement. I would like to one day get to the point where I only buy fabric for projects I’m working on. But that will have to wait until I’m truly committed to doing that. And… hahaha… I’m not there.
Have a lovely weekend quilters! If you haven’t yet heard, Bonnie Hunters Mystery Quilt along is starting on Friday. I am planning on not working at all that day so I can play along with everyone. I bought some fabric but not a whole lot. I think I just purchased the constant yellow she recommended. The rest will come from my stash. (woohoo!) I went through the stash bins a few weeks ago and pulled the fabric within the color schemes she had. It may not match exactly but it’s scrappy so I’m going to be okay with it. If I need more of anything I can always run to the quilt shop! 🙂 It’s really only a few blocks from my office so the temptation to run there is very HIGH! Lately I’ve been carpooling so that prevents me from making ‘quick’ stops. 🙂
Used this week: .5 yards
Used year to Date: 22 yards
Added this week: 10 yards
Added Year to Date: 110.4 yards
Net Added for 2014: 88.4 yards
~Have a quilty week!
Melanie
When I read your post I thought “Melanie is one happy quilter”! Good for you. Quilting is suppose to be fun – from buying fabric to putting on the binding. Something I might have forgotten. Thanks for the happiness reminder.
