I received 3 yards of backing for the secret project. So I’ve added some. I know I bought way too much fabric for this quilt but I didn’t like how it was turning out and had to get the right fabric for it. I’d searched the LQS’s in my area but couldn’t find anything so I turned to the online options. Unfortunately, sometimes you buy things and when they arrive the fabric (while pretty) isn’t the right shade. 🙁 So I have to buy something else. Part of me wants to start a new project with the leftovers. But my goal this year is to stay with consistent and committed to finishing one project at a time and that means I cannot start something new right now. And I’ve got a list of projects to finish before I can start something new. We’ll see if my creative self listens to my logical self. 🙂 It’s already February and I haven’t started something new yet so things are starting on the right foot this year. Then again, it’s only February. Now is the time to do a small project to give myself the sense of something new but still have it done in one weekend so it doesn’t become another UFO.
Even though I’ve added I’ll be having some finishes soon. This project will be done this afternoon and while the top to Tell It To The Stars will probably be finished this week (I’ve only got 3 sides of the final border left to do.) I do not want to quilt it on Bailey, my mid arm, until I’ve practiced a bit. So I’m going to add borders to my Month by Month quilt and use that as my practice quilt. I may add the finished top to Tell It To The Stars since it is a finished top. I’ll just have to remember to only add the backing and the binding when I actually finish it completely. We’ll see how that goes.

~Have a quilty week!

It would be really hard for me to work on just one quilt at a time. I have at least that I touch once a week, and several in the inactive bins.
Thanks Laura! I do not really work on one quilt at a time. I work on three but I’ve got a system so I stay focused and get them done. At least I’m trying out a system this year. It’s rather too long to put in a comment box. I think I’ll write up a whole post so you can get a better idea. 🙂 Thanks!
OOPS! Typing too fast. I have at least 4 that I touch once a week, and several in the inactive bins.
You are doing so well on staying focused. Hang in there. Trust me, you don’t want as many UFOs as I’ve accumulated over the years.. I feel just like you though about wanting to start another ‘little’ something just because. The temptation is so strong, especially since I love making quilts from scraps and I have over 50+ UFOs so hopefully that will keep me focused this year.
Thanks Dar! It’s so wonderful to get support from fellow quilters who understand! 🙂 Your words help keep me focused!
I have added a lot of fabric to my stash just by buying it for a specific quilt and then not liking it when I get it home. Most of the time I even have the blocks or quilt top with me when I buy it! Good for you for sticking to your goal. If I can just finish a UFO every month, I’ll be thrilled.
Thanks Marti!
That’s the bad thing about goring the online route, but sometimes that’s the only option. Good luck with your finishes.
Thanks Kate!
