I’ve been reading Gratitude Diaries by Janice Kaplan. It’s inspiring. And as I approach my 39th birthday I wonder how my life would change if I wrote down one grateful thing every day. I was thinking to post it daily as a gratitude post, very much like my living simply post. I’m a little afraid of committing to this. First, because there may be some things I would like to stay private. Second, it might affect what I’m grateful for. Third, will I find the time to do this every day?
But I want to try it. I think it will be interesting and fun and scary at the same time. Here are the rules – these are not set in stone and I may change them if I feel something will work better but I need to start with these.
- write one down physically every day.
- post one every day.
- if I feel like something is too private to post, I’ll just say that in the post.
- be completely honest.
First post will be on Monday, 10/19 – my birthday.
if I understand it correctly it is a great exercise 🙂 I am sure you will like it; feel free not to post anything if you are not comfortable – that is perfectly fine
I think you can never do too much counting of your blessings. =) It really helps me see that things are not so bad if I focus on the positive things rather than the negative. There are always going to be bad things happening, but there are always good things happening, too. By focusing on the one over the other, I think we can be far happier and people like us more, too. 😉 This is a great plan! Go for it!
Great plan — you’ve motivated me to do something similar! Thanks for sharing!
