Living Simply Edition #16

I haven’t done one of these in a long time.  Life was busy and it seemed any time I was able to come up and breathe, I spent it playing with fabric and other things.  I want to get this on the schedule again but I’m not sure where to start.  So, as with everything I do when I’m stuck, I figure out a project plan.

  • Living Room #1 (where my quilt frame is)
  • Living Room #2
  • Dining Room
  • Spare Closet (in front of the hubby’s lair) and has become the home of things that I don’t know what to do with
  • Laundry Room
  • Bathroom #2
  • Bar area
  • Kitchen
  • Pantry
  • Linen Closet
  • Bedroom
  • Bathroom #1
  • Garage

So my goal is to focus on 1 area each month.  That will mean we’ll get through each area in 13 months.  It’s a constant thing.  I specifically didn’t include the hubby’s lair (because that’s his and he would not appreciate me going in there to declutter).  I also didn’t include the girl’s room or the boy’s room.  They are old enough to go through their stuff.  Of course, if they want my help I’m sure they will ask me for it.

For March, I’ll be working on Living Room #1.

Here is what it looks like before I start working on it:

  1. I hate cleaning and decluttering which is why I’ve put off getting new carpet. We finally gave in and had to drag everything out of 4 rooms. Wow….what a mess many days of work before the carpet and after. I got rid of so much stuff, but you really can’t tell. I think it was all stuffed in there really nicely. Much more to get rid of, but I think I’ll save that for my kids…..grin.

  2. Well, it doesn’t look all that cluttered to me. =) A good plan. Deanna has her teens take *EVERYTHING* out of their rooms once a year, during summer, I think. They have to put things back after cleaning the room top to bottom. They wind up going through things and tossing or giving away a lot every single time. They complain beforehand but are glad they did it afterward. =)
