Montserrat and Casa Batllo

Montserrat-

We woke up early for our 7am breakfast and then met our guide in front of our hotel. We were the first to be picked up and got choice seats in the front of the van.

An hour later and we were in Montserrat, enjoying views and taking pictures of the Black Madonna.

The Black Madonna
on the walls leading up to the Black Madonna. I love all of these and take inspiration in my quilting.

It was a short trip, just half a day and we were back at our hotel for our afternoon nap. Later in the evening we ventured out to Casa Batllo.

I did not enjoy Casa Batllo. We attended at night and it was cool- the house, the audio guide, the interesting ways things were made. But it was packed and it was too hot and that made it not fun.

Unless you are a Gaudi fan, there’s no reason to go. Or if crowds and lines don’t bother you then you will be fine.

Me, not my thing.

Cheers,

Melanie

Girona

For Day 2, we spent the day in Girona and we had so much fun. We got to traipse around the streets where Game of Thrones season 6 was filmed and imagined Arya Stark running around. For any GoT fans, this is a must.

And the lunch… We ate at Taverna La Foment one of the best food of the trip. We got pretty traditional foods.

1. tomato and garlic

And the waiters showed us the traditional way of eating these.

2.mash potato and pork belly.

It’s like stuffing but with pork belly in the middle. It was so good.

3. fericando (?) – veal with mushroom and gravy and fries

Also very yummy. And of course we paired the food with a light beer and vermouth.

Cheers,

Melanie
