I came very close to buying fabric this week. My LQS sent an email early Friday morning announcing a flash sale of 30% off all repro fabrics. I am going to need backing fabric for Missing Ivy soon and I can live with pretty repro fabrics on the back of that quilt. But I held off. I haven’t yet calculated how much fabric I will need for the backing and if I bought it at the sale I would have over bought to compensate. I haven’t decided what I’ll do for backing but I decided not to buy it yet. I am in the red by 20+yards and I still need to get through quilting Hampton Ridge to bring those numbers back down. Quilting will probably not happen until next weekend. The plan is to trim the batting today so that I can start quilting Friday afternoon. I’m planning to do a simple meander for the quilting and my hope is that it will go quickly.

And for Slow Stitching Sunday with Kathy at Kathy Quilts, I plan to work on A Rainbow Garden again today! Here’s what it looked like last week:
Here is how it looks now:
I really enjoyed doing the blanket stitch on that lower left flower piece. I should have stopped when I finished but I tried to do one more and did the flower piece on the right. It doesn’t look as nice. That’s my learning lesson to stop when I’m feeling good and not try to push myself too far at one sitting. Here’s a close up of the piece I liked:
Until next time…

Thanks Cynthia! 🙂
I loved the rainbow garden – what a pretty and well done piece 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
Such a beautiful block – it would be wonderful to work on, I’m sure!
Thanks Marie! 🙂
A Rainbow Garden is looking very pretty. Your blanket stitch is beautiful.
Thanks Cathie! 🙂
Beautiful.
Thanks Deb! 🙂
Your honesty about how much you’ve used and how much you’ve spent is very familiar. Just know that there will always be another fabric sale when you’re ready to buy, there always is.
Great reminder Robin! I often forget that there will always be a sale when I’m ready! 🙂
I love the subtle colors of your wool, especially the greens. Your stitching is beautiful.
Thanks Nancy! 🙂
