Retreat Project #3 – Christmas in Paris

Christmas in Paris by Coach House Designs

I’ve been working on this project for years. It was a kit I bought at Road to California many years ago (like +10 years) when I used to only buy kits. And then it sat around waiting for me to get to it. Several years ago I started using an old suitcase as my retreat suitcase and I put several kits in it. I worked on these kits at retreats only and they became my retreat projects. They were like dear old friends that came out to play at those times. When the projects get close to being finished I would pull them out of the suitcase and finish them at home. This project is getting close to that time.

Block A’s are done

I struggled with this kit because the original kit was for a different project. everything was labeled for that project. But the same kit could be used for this project and that’s what the seller told me when I bought it. I believe that was the case since so many years passed from when I bought it and then pulled it out to play with it. Anyway the labels and the actual usage of the fabric was so confusing to me that it took awhile to get myself sorted. And early on somewhere I had confused something and miscut something. I’m not sure now where and what and I fear I may discover that info at some point later. But things are looking up as I get closer to the end so I have high hopes.

Poinsettias

At the last retreat I prepped all the poinsettias and fused them down. I even blanket stitched one. There are 17 of these and if I do one at each retreat it will take forever so I am planning to take these out of my retreat suitcase at some point and try to get these done on my big machine at home. I have other priority projects going on at home and very little sewing time that it may take a bit before I can do that but I’m thrilled that this project is getting closer to the finishing line.

stay quilty friends!
