I didn’t take many pictures. But here’s the run down.
I got held up and didn’t leave for Big Bear until about 3pm which meant I didn’t arrive until 6pm, hungry, out of sorts and kind of grumpy. And because I was late I didn’t get to be in the main stitchy room. I ended up in the overflow room and I was pretty cantankerous about it. I held myself together and while disappointed I endeavored to have a good time. Which I did despite the crappy start.
Overall my companions in the overflow room were nice and enjoyable. There were only 4 of us staying throughout the retreat. There were an additional 3 that were day attendees. 1 was a day person Friday and Saturday and the other 2 only came on Saturday. Everyone was nice, but it’s different being with day people vs full time retreaters. I would have liked having more full time retreaters in our room.
But being small, one of the stitchers figured out how to use the two tv’s in the room and got flosstube on. There were two TVs because I was looking one way and the other three ladies were looking towards me. Having two TVs syncing was amazing. And we stitched, laughed, watched flosstube and were enabled. I got away with only buying $50 of new patterns.

Unfortunately because of my late start I had a late start to my project plan.
Thursday- Gamer. I started stitching about 730-8pm and I got out Gamer, stitched for an hour and my brain was done for the night so I went to my room to chill and rest.
Friday – Continued on with Gamer. I was able to knit a row on my sweater, stitched on my constitution project, and even did some stitching on my San Francisco project. But I couldn’t get myself to do my nature walk. And I didn’t find a yoga studio to take a class at. I did enjoy our breakfast and our dessert. For dinner my overflow room mates went to Maggio’s and I had a salad and pasta.
By evening I took out MFE SAL but only had enough energy to put a few stitches on it. I did leave early at about 9pm so I could get a good soak in the big tub.
Saturday – Continued with the 2023 MFE SAL. Basically worked on it as much as I mentally could take then switched to Blossoms.
I did some knitting but nothing else. The constitution and my San Francisco embroidery did not entice me in any way. I stayed in the stitchy room until 10! Too late to enjoy a soak in the tub but too early to really be tired to sleep. I just laid in bed and listened to my audio book until sleep overtook me.
Sunday: day to go home. It’s always bittersweet. On one hand I miss my kids and my house and my other things, but I really dislike packing to go home. But it has to be done. so I stitched on Titania until my eyes crossed and then around noon started gathering my things. I’d already checked out of the sleeping room and all that stuff was packed in my car but the stitchy stuff just, like quilty stuff at a quilt retreat, need to be packed neatly and organized so I can find the things I need when I get home.

My stitcher retreaters.
Keep stitching,
Melanie
Sounds like a lovely time, even if the start was a little rocky. I don’t know if I could hand stitch that much in a day. I’ve been on a few quilting retreats, and eight hours of machine stitching goes by quickly. Maybe its the atmosphere of fellow stitchers, fun that you could watch Floss tube too.
