Quilt Retreat #notsure2 2025 – an update

I posted my original project plan here.

At the retreat someone asked me if I had ADD with the amount of lists I use and the various tricks I need to force myself to focus and get things done. I’ve never been diagnosed with this but my daughter took some tests in college and was legit diagnosed. Apparently it’s genetic so we guess that I may also have it too. It doesn’t really matter to me but it does explain why I need the lists and enjoy bullet journals vs traditional planners and some other things. Maybe I can do some research when I’m of a mind to see if this new revelation can help me figure out life or learn how to cope with things when my tricks don’t work. Anyway, here’s how I did at the last local sleep in your own bed retreat.

#1- cut 1 door banner kit – The kit I took with me had cuttings all the way to ddd meaning 56 different cuts. These are not pieces because several have more than one piece. I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of cutting so I only did half. I still need to cut from the 2 remaining pieces of fabric.

#2 – Gamer project bag. Continue binding the innards. – I didn’t touch this one at all. My house is still in shambles and it’s making my head explode and I don’t want to pull out this project from where it’s currently tucked away. It’s the project I want to work on when I’m able to sew at home again.

#3 – 2023 Saturday Sampler from QP. – I pulled this out and I had Month 11 and Month 12 left. This particular BOM also included companion blocks and borders so when I finish Month 12, I’ll still need to do more. Despite that, I’m getting close to a finish and it feels good.

I finished Month 11 at this retreat.

#4 – Tula Pink Butterfly 2.0 – Finished the 3rd set of blocks – Chunky Crosses

On my planning post about what I planned to do for #5 and #6 was what I called my Americana Texas quilt and an apron I wanted to make. Below is what I had originally wrote about them. But at the retreat I didn’t feel like doing those and pulled out a very old project: Spooky Halloween which I’ll post more about later but here’s the block I worked on at the retreat.

#5 – I have an old Americana quilt kit I bought in Texas in 2012. I didn’t open it until a year or so ago when it came up the queue. I believe it’s my last kit of that era. Anyway it wasn’t until I opened it that I discovered the pattern was not included with the kit! The pattern was part of a magazine and I’ve looked all over and have not been able to find it online. So I have the cutting instructions and I’m trying to piece them together based on that and the picture but it’s not been easy. I’ll continue to try but I’m considering giving this kit all cut up to the Vets group in my guild. Hopefully they can figure it out.

#6 – I really want to put together an apron. I’ve been wanting to in a long time and one of my friends got hers done last year while I sit around and wait for things to get finish. If I can get my Gamer project bag done, maybe I’ll spend some time on this apron.

And that’s it.
