One of my Local Quilt Shops, (LQS), Quilty Pleasures, in Simi Valley participated in the 250 Years of Jane Austen and I picked up my kit before heading off on retreat.
I didn’t get all the details prior to deciding to do this BOM so some things surprised me. First I paid and recieved the entire kit up front. I’m thrilled I got a bag with it. It was a lot of money up front.
The pattern was found online. I’m glad Angie told me when I bought the kit because had I not known I would have not printed and stuffed it in the bag the kit came in.
After reading the pattern I was surprised to see that it had interfacing as part of the suggested supply items. but it didn’t say what kind of interfacing. This prompted me to ask Angie and friends who were also doing the project what kind they were using. She used “pattern ease” and is a lot cheaper than buying the one with Lori Holt’s name.
And then I was introduced to Lori Holt’s applique method. which prompted me to go online and see what that was. which then brought me to you tube and tutorials.
It’s been a long while since I’ve done internet hyped projects. I’m both apprehensive and inspired in this project. Apprehensive because I don’t want to get sucked in to anything else. I’m pretty good at that. But inspired because my cross stitch retreat buddy who used to quilt saw this and decided to join me. She’s coming with me to my next mini retreat and we can work on this together.
Keep on quilting!
Melanie
