Cross Stitch: Mama’s Bukid, an update

Mama’s Bukid
2/15/2020

Here is where I’m at with Mama’s Bukid.  When I finish this set of columns, I will be finished with this project.  I’m so excited I can hardly stand it.  But I’m putting it away.  I can almost taste the finish that’s how close I am. I’ve been working on this project for a week and it’s not my favorite project. If I force myself to keep working on it, I will not pick it up at all.  I know myself.  So, I will work on “A Stitch in Time” this week and next week… I will stitch a bit more on this project and maybe, I’ll have a finish.  There’s a lot of full coverage as I get to the bottom of these columns and as a result, I’m not certain I’ll be able to finish in a week.  It may take another 2 weeks of stitching.  Either way, I’m okay with taking a break on this and moving onto one of my favorite stitchy projects.

Cross Stitch, an update – August, 2018

Progress… When I look at these close up every day, I can see I’m making progress but it doesn’t feel like much.  But when I step away and look at it from a distance I get excited about what is coming alive under my hands.  Then when I take weekly pics, it’s even more exciting because the progress is very obvious and I’m amazed at how much I got done over a week.  That is even more obvious when I look at the monthly pics.  My last updated pics on this blog for both Mama’s Bukid and Gamer were from July 31.  Here are the pics from the end of August.  They are amazing and beautiful!  I <3 it so much right now.

I am still enjoying this project immensely. I have to force myself to work on Mama’s Bukid. I love how Mama’s Bukid is coming out but I’m not drawn to work on it like I am Gamer.  I wrapped up all the sides of the fabric and made a grime guard.  I found a cool tutorial here. Hopefully, the link works. I found that I have a ton of fabric to smush because it’s a big piece and the grime guard didn’t keep all the fabric in.  So next time, I will make the width of the guard a bit bigger to accommodate the bunch of fabric I want it to hold. Once I’m done filling in all the pieces on this page, I will need to migrate over to the 11×11 QSnap.  I started making the grime guard for that one when I made the grime guard the 8×8 so the fabric will still be too much for this one.  But I will finish the one I started and use that for now.

Happy Thursday!

I am speeding through this project.  I am enjoying it immensely.  I started with a small hoop and then upgraded to an 8×8 QSnap.  I ordered a large scroll frame from ABCStitch.com to put this project on.  I do not know how long that will take to get to me but I have a larger QSnap.  I think it’s 11×17 but I can’t be certain.  This is a large project and I’m only on the first page (of 50 or so pages) so I hope this continues.

Last fall, we took a weekend trip to Solvang and I purchased some Mill Hill kits.  Here’s my progress on one of those kits:

Mill Hill Kit
3/6/18

I don’t have the name but I do a bit on it when I have time or feel like it.  It’s definitely not a priority but I am making some effort to get some of my things finished. This is the first time I’m working on a Mill Hill design or on perforated plastic.  I’m not loving it but it’s a new experience.

Happy Tuesday!

I’m halfway through Row 10 on page 5.  There are 14 rows on this page.  I am hoping to get row 10 done this week and at this rate I’m doing a row every 2 weeks.  I hope to get the rest of this page done by the end of March!  I started the first row in October which means that I would finish this page in 6 months. That would be insane!  That’s a lot shorter than the 2 years it took me to do the first page.  On FB someone asked me about the final picture. Someone asked me on a previous post here as well.  I finally did a google search and found this:

Farmland 2

I do not think it’s the complete final pic because it looks like it’s missing some of the clouds but it’s still a surprise to me.  I do not know what happened with the picture that came with the project.

I didn’t realize how much I got done but that’s a lot. It seems every night I’m putting a few stitches here and there and that’s helping me progress too.  Bukid is my primary cross stitch project so I work on that project more. I try to do a thread every night but that doesn’t happen every night.

Happy Tuesday!
