Cross Stitch, an update – week 7, 2018

Before I update you on my cross stitch projects, I have some good news.  I went to the San Fernando Valley Quilt Association’s (SFVQA) meeting last night and won a raffle basket!  I was ecstatic!  I counted it all and there was about 17 yards of fabric.  I didn’t take a tape measure to it so give or take a few yards.  It’s all winnings so I’m not going to add it to my Sunday Stash report.  I do need to figure out where I’m going to put it but here’s a quick pic of the basket.

As you can see row 8 is finished and I’m almost halfway through row 9.  I hope to get row 9 finished this week.

I’m working on one shade of gray.  It’s kind of boring but I’m still excited by the newness of the project and I’m enjoying working on it.  I do not really know much about cross stitching but I believe this is 2×2 on 18 count Aida.  Hopefully I got that right! 🙂

Happy Tuesday!

Page 5, Row 7 is done!  And I actually noticed a little mistake… You can’t really tell with these pictures but I know that if I let it go on, you’ll be able to tell once row 8 is finished.  So I need to rip out the mistake and re-stitch it. Luckily it’s only few stitches that need to be fixed.  This week I’m working on row 8 and I hope that row 8 gets finished in the next couple of weeks.

I received Gamer this week and I wanted to start stitching right away.  But I restrained myself.  Since I started watching FlossTube and I’m learning a bit more of the cross stitching craft I decided to start right and prep my fabric.

I did press the fabric but the manhandling I had to do to add the floss marks wrinkled it all back up.  Oh well.  If you look really close the purple dashes are purple floss that marks the centers of the fabric.  The orange dashes are bolded lines on the pattern.  I hope that this will help me with the project.  It’s the most difficult cross stitch project I’ve ever worked on so I’m hoping doing this will help me.  I want to get all these marked immediately so I can start stitching.

Happy Friday!

I had to move the scroll as it was becoming harder to stitch on the right side of the frame.  So going forward, here’s the pic that you’ll most likely see…

I didn’t do a good job at getting the lighting right but I’ll pay more attention to that in the future.  For now, you get the idea.  I’ll try to unscroll and show you a picture of the full thing now and again because I love to look at it.  But I’m not sure how often I’ll be able to do that.  In the meantime, progress is slowly being made.  Once I get row 7 done, I’ll be halfway through this page.  And my 16 year timeframe, which was cut in half to 8 years recently maybe even shorter than that.

In addition, I still haven’t received Gamer.  I looked at my purchase order and they have a one month turn around.  I should have it early February at the latest.  Hopefully it comes sooner than that.  I may have to take out some little stitching projects to intersperse with Mama’s Bukid.  I’m enjoying Mama’s Bukid for now so I may just continue to work on it as much as possible before Gamer arrives.

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Stitching!

Cross Stitch, an update

“Mama’s Bukid” …

A lot of time has passed since my last update. I didn’t realize… The holidays happened and I was engrossed with enjoying the time rather than posting on the blog.  And then I got sick soon after Christmas through the New Years.  I finally started getting back into my normal crafty self on the 4th and then I had to catch up with work and other things.  Anyway, here’s my cross stitch update.

Sorry for the not so great lighting but I did not have time to take it outside to get the right sunlight.  You can see the progress though.  On my Crafty Plan for Cross Stitching post, I mentioned the Gamer Nouveau cross stitch and I was able to purchase the kit a few days ago.  It’s coming from the UK so hopefully, the wait is not too long.

I’m really excited about getting this started.

Happy Wednesday!

I reread my post from last week and realized that I said the wrong thing at the end. I meant to say I am hoping doing the project from bottom top to bottom instead of by thread colors will be less bunchy not more bunchy.  I am halfway through Row 3 and I’m hoping to get it finished this week.  I liked going from top to bottom even though I need to pay more attention and have better thread management.  The extra effort is worth the look of the project!

Happy Tuesday!

The lighting on my more current picture is so much better.  That’s because I remembered to take the picture before it got dark! As you can see I’m making significant progress week by week.  It’s safe to say that my Cross Stitch mojo has come back with a vengeance.

Last week I was putting stitches in as I was working on a particular color.  But I found during the parts where there was a lot of intermingling (is that what they call “confetti”?)  my stitches were getting bunchy and it was not looking very nice.  So on Row 3 I will attempt to start on the top row and work my way down stitch by stitch rather than color by color.  I hope this will create a more bunchy affect.

Happy Tuesday!

I’m sorry the lighting is so bad.  This was what I had available so this is what you see.

I didn’t realize when I listed my goal yesterday that I only had 2 stitches left in Row 1.  I finished that in a second and started working on the first line in Row 2.

My goal for the month is to finish Row 1 (done!) and Row 2.  So I’m working on Row 2 and we’ll see how that goes.  I’ve got 8 different threads to use in that row but the last one is a bit away from the main project.  I’ll do that one when I get to Row 3 as Row 3 connects to that part of the picture.  I can try to do the counting but that’s where errors happen so I’m happy to wait until Row 3 to minimize the risk of errors. 🙂

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Stitching!
