I’ve been basting a bit of Raining Cats and Dogs every day and I only have one more pass left to do.

I plan to get that done tonight after work.  I am planning on machine quilting SITD between each block and the inner border.  Once that is done, I’ll be taking one block at a time and quilting each block separately.  I’ll do as much as I can machine quilting but I plan to do a bit of hand quilting too.  I just am not yet sure about the specifics yet.

So apparently it has been a couple of weeks since my last TGIFF post.  During that time, I finished binding Scrapitude!  Woot Woot!!!

Not much going on quilty wise over here. 🙁

My parents are in town so I’ve been spending quality time with them.  That’s a good thing.  Any free time I had, I spent binding Scrapitude.  I’m almost done.  I only have about a yard left.  I’m hoping I’ll be able to knock that out over the weekend.

March is almost over and this last week was not very productive around here.  I am in a bit of a sewing slump.  Hopefully that changes soon.  My parents will be coming to spend a few days with us next week and work will be picking up.  Of course, it’s happening at the same time.  We’ll just have to take it day by day.

As for now, I’m working on binding Scrapitude.  I’ll be watching quite a few movies over the next few days.  I want to get it done for the next Valley MQG meeting on Tuesday.

What a wonderful day!

I’ve got a number of things juggling around.  I decided to start helping out more with the guilds that I’m a part of.  So for SFVQA, I’ve joined the Quilt Tour committee.  The first meeting is next Wednesday but basically, members get to check out other members’ sewing spaces.  I’m sure it’s more involved than that but I enjoy seeing how other people use and design their spaces.  I usually get a bunch of ideas just looking at pictures online.

Second, I joined the SFVQA Strip Club.  I think they just started it and every month there’s a color, people sign up and depending on how many people sign up will determine how many strips of that color you bring to the next meeting. For this round, its 31 yellow strips! I just ransacked my fabric stash and yellow is not a color I’ve got.  Well, I take that back, I do not have yards of yellow.  So I need to go to the quilt shop and buy enough fabric for 31 – 2.5″ yellow strips which is about 2-1/4 yards.  Luckily the sew in for Valley MQG is on Saturday at my favorite LQS, Quilt Emporium.

For TGIF, I finished putting border #1 on Raining Cats and Dogs!

Almost there!  Just 1 more border and the top is done!

I’ve also picked the binding for scrapitude and I’ll be working on getting that on.  I don’t think I’ll be working on it at the sew in.  It’s too unwieldy.  I’m also not sure I want to work on the next step for Celtic Solstice.  Well, I think I’ll bring Celtic Solstice and Missing Ivy.

Scrapitude is now off the frame.  All of the inner part is quilted and the next step is to trim up some of the excess material and quilt the borders.  I’ll be quilting the borders on my domestic.  I like doing it this way.  I feel like I have more control over the quilting on the borders.

I’m not sure I’ll be able to do much this weekend but I’m crossing my fingers that I find a bit of time to do a bit of work. 🙂

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted a TGIF post.  But I’ve finally got a finish in a long time so I’m excited to be able to join the various Friday Finish Linky’s!  Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to take a picture of the final quilt.  That’s happening this weekend when I can grab the kids or the hubby to hold it up for me.  In the meantime, we’re stuck with a pre-bind picture.

I’m so excited for the weekend because it’s a craft weekend for me!  Nothing on the calendar and nothing I have to do other than my crafty to do list. 🙂

Another week, and not a lot of progress made.

I haven’t touched my sewing machine since last week.  It’s so lonely.  I’m a little out of sorts and haven’t been tackling any projects throughout the week like I normally do.  It’s mainly because we’ve had a lot of activities.  The random free day here and there finds me too tired to do anything.  It might also have something to do with the girl taking over the floor of my sewing room so she could study.  This was fine when her grandmother was in town and in her room but now that that is not the case, I will need to kick her out.  Her last final is today so she’ll have to move.  I like that she’s in the room so I can talk to someone while I’m quilting but she is usually sprawled over the floor.  And I need my floor to walk from my ironing board to the sewing table to the cutting area. 🙂

It’s Friday and another clue to Allietare comes out today!  I didn’t get step 3 done from last week since I was out of town, but that won’t stop me from starting up step 4.  I plan to get started on these on Saturday.

Celtic Solstice Block A more partial blocks made 12/11/2015

I need to make a lot of these blocks and I’m probably a third of the way through.  I’m just trying to do a bit at a time so that eventually they will get done.  I’m taking my time. Snipping the little ears, pinning, piecing, pressing.  I’m trying to be precise.  There’s no rush and I’m enjoying the meditative process of it all.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t make exciting blog posts or pictures. 🙂

It’s Friday and another clue to Allietare comes out today!  Unfortunately, I’m out of town this weekend so I will not be getting much done on that front.  I will be taking my hand work with me though: Raining Cats and Dogs!  I did start working on getting the cat on but it required a lot of thinking and hard work to get the head on so I stopped to rest as soon as it was on.  I wasn’t able to take a good picture yet so the old picture and your imagination will have to do. 🙂

I haven’t mitered border #2 of Hampton Ridge yet.  But I did get the Star single sheets from the quilt shop! I think I’ll try to do a little each week rather than pull it out a month from now.  That way when Hampton Ridge comes back up in my project rotation I’ll have a bit done and maybe even get started on border #4.
