2016 Goals – Mid May Update

I forgot to do my mid month check of my monthly goals.

#1 – Get 6 quilts done in 2016

Quilt #1  – Tell It To The Stars – finished 2/20/2016

Quilt #2 – Scrapitude,2015 ==> finished 4/3/2016

Quilt #3 – Moon Glow – My goal for May is to quilt Moon Glow.

===> I haven’t done anything with this yet.  I plan to go and check out how to rent the long arm.  But I’m not yet convinced that I’m going to actually rent the long arm.  I do want to check it out though.

Quilt #4 – Hampton Ridge – this is in queue. I still need to get the backing and label ready for this. But I will not get going on this until Moon Glow is being quilted.

Quilt #5 – Raining Cats and Dogs – top was finished on 4/9/2016.  I finished the part I wanted to machine quilt.  My goal is to take this slow and hand quilt this.  I haven’t even started.

Quilt #6 – Celtic Solstice – I was able to get this organized and once Raining Cats and Dogs is out of the machine, I’ll be piecing Block B in between piecing for Missing Ivy. ==> I am piecing Block B as leaders and enders of other projects.  I’ve got bits put together but no blocks done yet.

Quilt #7  – Missing Ivy – I got through step 9 and the remaining steps is for the border.  I’ve had a number of suggestions that I could skip the border and finish it as is (assuming it’s big enough).  I want to do the border.  It wouldn’t look finish to me if I skip it. ==> I am through step 10 now.  I want to get through step 11 by the end of May.

Quilt #7 – LQS 2012 BOM “Provence” – I added this project to this list earlier in the month to alternate with Missing Ivy as I felt the need to.  I don’t have a goal for this project this month since I just pulled it out on a whim. 🙂

#2 – Continue to count my stash, with a true effort to not add fabric on a whim.

My goal is to continue to stay in the black.  ==> I did buy a bit this month and my net used yardage shrank a bit but I’m still in the black so that’s all good. 🙂

#3 – Create a hobby budget a stick to it!

My budget for the year was $3,000 and I surpassed it.  I’ve adjusted this goal to simply continue tracking how much I spend on my hobbies.

==> Current crafty spending for 2016 as of 5/17/16 is $3264.05

#4 – Knit weekly

My goal for May is to work a bit each week on the Rosie Hat.

==> I am very much in the decreasing part of this hat.  If I continue to work on this each week, I think I can be done with it in May, maybe June.

#5 – Cross Stitch weekly

==> The cross stitch part is done and I’m working on the embroidery outlining the project.

I’m almost finished with the top border.  Once that is done, I will work on the right border.

#6 – Scrapbook

I haven’t done anything for this.  It’s at the bottom of my priority list so… I find that everything else is taking up my crafty time.  I hope that as the months continue my work life is less consuming and I can spend a few extra hours on my crafty stuff. And then be able to spend some time on scrapbooking! 🙂

Here’s a link to my original 2016 Goals.

Here’s to a great year!

  1. Melanie, I have to tell you that I’m jealous of your craft budget. That much plus another $1300 or so would buy the used Nolting I want. LOL You are so blessed, and you are also getting a lot done.
