Knitting WIP- Fingerless Mitts

I’m still heavily involved in the great move. The floors are done, blinds have been installed and my new closet system has been delivered but still needs to be installed. I’ve slowly started going through each bin of stuff and transferring the bins from my living room to my sewing room. My Guild’s Treasure Hunt (basically yard sale for crafters) is coming up and I want to get as much stuff out of my house to that sale.

One of my stacks of bins is 6 bins of yarn. This is my yarn stash and I think there’s more yarn in the other side of my living room that I’ve not had a chance to go through. But 6 bins of delicious yarn is a lot for someone who can only work on one or two knitting projects at a time. I recommit to my goal of not buying more yarn unless it’s to finish a project.

I’ve also got 2 bins full of kitted up projects (yarn and pattern in a project bag). I know for a fact I’ve got more somewhere. So more reason to work out of my stash.

But here’s my current WIP: fingerless mitts

I finished my gardengate sweater and all I have to do is block it and take a picture so I can post all about it.

My friend Julie wanted fingerless mitts. She’s not a knitter but she can knit and just needed help on areas of the process she wasn’t familiar with. So I took some stash yarn and started knitting one too. Julie finished her first practice pair a long time ago and still has it in her mind to do the second ‘real’ pair. I am knitting with her as a sister project. Our other friend, Liz, is doing the teaching and helping.

The yarn is leftover from my Oriental shawl I made last year. I don’t see that I’ve ever posted it. I wasn’t good about that the last couple years.

My shawl in Japan posing with Mt Fuji.

I loved knitting the shawl but it’s way too heavy and not something I can wear in Los Angeles.

Happy knitting.
