Knitting Update, Week 10, 2018

Here’s an update on my current set of priority knitting projects. Last month, I finished 2 projects on my knitting priority list.

My February socks:

Warm and Snug Socks
Knitting Expat
Cosy Sock Club
February, 2018

and my Martine Hat:

I have 3 priority projects that I work on each day and I think 3 projects is a good number for me.  I can generally do a little bit every day on each project.  I know if I was monogamous I would get a lot done on one project and do it faster but I get bored working that long on one project.  So I get a bit done on each and I don’t get bored.  Right now those projects are:

  • March Socks

Derive Socks
Knitting Expat
Wanderlust Sock Club
March, 2018

  • Kayla’s Weasley Sweater

Kayla’s Weasley Sweater

  • Land of Sweets Cowl

Land of Sweets Cowl

I have prioritized 3 projects to work on each day because I have a lot of knitting WIPs and I want to get them done. I’m not very good at working on one project at a time so I try to do a little bit every day on 3 main projects.  The socks is my number one project as I’m part of a KAL (Knit A Long) and need to get the pairs of socks done within the month to enter it in a drawing.  But like I said I don’t have the wherewithal to work on just the socks so I know where I should be at each week of the month in order for me to be finished by month end.  The sweater doesn’t have a deadline but I want to get it done as I’m going to be making a Weasley sweater for each of us (my family).  I have this insane idea of taking our holiday pictures in our Weasley sweaters.  I think it will be so cute and the hubby is willing to go along with it.  I do not think that I’ll get it done for this Christmas but I’m hoping that it will be done in the next few Christmas’.  Anyway, so I need to keep working a bit on these each day and one day they will be done.  The cowl is the same in that I do not have a deadline other than I want to get it done and pushing it to #3 on my priority list means that it will get worked on regularly and it will be done one day soon.

TGIFFF, 2/16/18

I do not have a finish very often so when I do… I must celebrate!

The family and I are off to celebrate the 4 day weekend at our favorite place in the whole wide world – Lake Tahoe! We were hoping to catch some snow but it doesn’t look like that will be happening.  Oh well.  My plan is to find a quilt shop, a yarn shop, and possibly a needlepoint shop.  I’ve taken a carload of projects with me (who needs clothes anyway?) and I hope to get a lot of crafting done. 🙂

I think I have a problem…

Resfeber Socks

January, 2018

While cleaning my craft table I decided to do my daily task of knitting 5 rounds for my Resfeber socks. And while I was doing that, watched the newest episode of The Crazy Sock Lady on YouTube.  And while I was doing that, she mentioned how she was using her Row One minis for scrappy socks.  You guys… a lightbulb went on in my head and I decided I needed to start one as well.  I’ve got 4 months of these minis.  One is in my cozy memory blanket project bag.  And the other 3 are just hanging out waiting for me to use it.  In addition, I just bought the Addi FlexiFlips and was dying to try them out!  So instead of cleaning my floor, I casted on one sock and did about 3 rounds before I got control of myself again.

The yarn is from Twisted Owl Fiber Studio which I received in my October, 2017 Row One Subscription. I picked this one because the minis are 5 grams and felt that these little minis – mini of the minis if you will – are perfect for scrappy socks.  I’m planning to keep going until I use up the mini and then switching out to another mini but I’m not sure how long 5 grams will go on a sock.  I do want them to be scrappy so if it goes too long I may switch it out after a few rounds.  At this point, I’d like both socks to be different but if I ended up switching the mini out before I use it, I may just put whatever I don’t use on the next sock and it will be a bit more matchy matchy.  On to my next task for the day…

I just made plans with a girlfriend to have dinner at OO-Kook, our favorite Korean BBQ spot in KoreaTown, so now I’ve got to get my sh*t together. 🙂 I’ve got a couple of errands to run and I do need to give my Luna some love. As a reminder, Luna is my beloved sewing machine. The big one that stays at home as opposed to my little Bernina that travels with me or Lola, my featherweight.

Have fun friends!
