Japanese JigSaw Puzzle Quilt

Japanese Jig Saw Puzzle
06/2020

This quilt was finished some time ago. I forget when but it’s been a few weeks and I’ve been meaning to put a label on it. I still do not have a label on. So it’s not a Finish Finish Finish, but I will get one on soon.

This was the result of a guild workshop a couple of years ago and I do not think I ever posted it here.  It’s done now and I’m happy to have another lap quilt to throw on the couch.

Finished Socks

knit picks
scrappy socks
2/1/2020

I briefly mentioned that I finished these socks on my recent weekly update and I wanted to go over them in detail.  I may have done so in a previous post but I can’t remember and if I can’t, maybe you can’t either.

These socks were knitted with 2 different colorways of Knit Picks Felici.  In 2018, I was on a kick to use up as much of my Felici as possible. This is one of those yarns that I bought a lot of because I loved the colorways but when I finally started knitting it, didn’t love the yarn so much.  So in 2018 every month I knit a pattern with what I had with the intent to use up all my Felici (spoiler: I still have a lot).  Because my feet are small and I like shorties (despite these being long), I would have 50g (almost a full ball) left of each colorway after every pair of socks.  So, I have a bunch of these leftover and at some point some time ago I needed a quick travel project and vanilla socks are the best for travel knitting.  When I finished the first colorway, it wasn’t enough for even shorties so I added a second colorway and just knit a tube until I finished the second colorway.  I pulled out my bag of minis and selected something for the heels and something for the cuffs.  The heels are kirby’s afterthought heel without waste yarn tutorial on youtube.  I originally didn’t put a waste yarn because I thought that these would go to my daughter. She decided she didn’t want them (she already has a ton of socks so she didn’t want to add to her collection).  So they’re mine.  The cuffs are 2×2 ribbing.

I started knitting on these socks as my morning knit project after Thanksgiving when I finished my November socks.  These took a long time to knit because of how long they became but I really love them and may consider knitting more long socks.

A finish! Glam Clam

Glam Clam
Finished Top
1/13/2020

Two tops done in a week! I was so close to finishing Glam Clam that I powered through that last row.  Now I’ve added to my quilt queue.  I will be getting a lot of practice whenever by Q20 chooses to arrive.

My next project is scrappy stars from 2015.  Here’s the page that I started back then. For those who do not want to go to that page, the short story is that it was a mystery quilt by Charlotte Hawkes from 2016 with cutting instructions provided in the fall of 2015.  She gives you all the cutting instructions so when she releases the first clue in January all you have to do is piece them all together.  She releases the clues each month and I think after about 5 clues you have the finale.  I like having the cutting instructions first and being able to piece piece piece to your hearts content.  I’m somewhere in the middle of clue 3.  Just like all my other projects I’ve been working on this a bit at a time at retreats and between other projects.  I’m pretty sure this will take me much longer to complete than Glam Clam although I am at the point where I’m starting to put the blocks together.  I’ll be posting pictures when I pull that project box out to play.

A finish! Good Fortune

Good Fortune
Top is done!
1/4/2020

Okay, it’s not really a finish but the top is done and we all can celebrate!  I’m debating on what to do for the back, whether to do the back now or wait until later. I’m pretty sure I have 2 tops with their backs and batting ready to be basted and quilted.  But I recently gifted myself a Q20 and I’m patiently waiting for it to arrive.  So, there’s no rush to do the back now.  I can simply put this aside and put a few more rows on Glam Clam. and maybe even finish the top… 🙂
