Now that the project is on a frame, it’s harder to show the whole piece.  So, we’ll have to make due with this for now.  When I’m done with this page, I’m going to jump to page 5 which is the part that borders the bottom of page 1.  At that point, I’ll need to unravel the whole piece to get back to the left side again.  I’ll take a picture of the whole thing then.

If you read this post, you may be wondering what happened.  I haven’t found something that is really compelling me.  I am finding a lot of cool stuff but nothing that I feel like I can finish in a month.  I am thinking of looking for my old cross stitch books and possibly starting a small piece from there.  Or, run through my old projects and see if there is a small piece I might have missed.

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Stitching!

I was able to find a needle minder at one of the quilt shops we visited when we went down to Orange a couple of weekends ago (the mouse) and I love it!  I also have my cross stitch on a scroll frame.  I’m still waiting to see if I enjoy it or not. It’s nice not to take it off and on a hoop but there are still cons to a hoop that I’m discovering. As I said in Monday’s post, I finished Row 12 and I’m now working on Row 13.  My goal for this month was to finish Row 12 and I accomplished that!  I am very close to finishing this page and it’s encouraged me to work on this more and more each week.

Happy Wednesday!

I have 4 colorways left to finish Row 12.  It doesn’t sound like a lot but I know at least 2 of them takes up a lot of the stitching for the rest of Row 12.  I’m enjoying this project and even though it’s slow going I like the process.  I’m definitely a process person when it comes to crafting.  I like how those clouds are looking.

Happy Tuesday!

I finished the 11th Row by August 31st and started working on Row 12.  My goal for September is to get Row 12 done.  I’m trying to pick up speed on this project because I’m starting to love cross stitching again.  I’ve added FlossTube (or Cross Stitching Podcasts on YouTube) to my YouTube subscriptions and I’m amazed at all the various projects out there.  I feel like I’ve been in a cross stitching bubble.  I haven’t had the urge to buy any new projects (a good thing) but I did make a purchase for a table/lap scroll frame.  When I buy things like this I usually buy big.  But I’m learning.  I was able to restrain myself from buying the floor stand and just get the table frame.  I was also able to restrain myself from getting a bunch of different size options that came in the “deluxe” kit and just get the size I need for this project.  I am afraid that if I have multiple options, I may have multiple projects happening at one time and at most, I would only want 1-2.  Right now I’m focusing just on Mama’s Bukid and I am enjoying it.  I know myself though and know that there will be a time where I will get bored and want to work on something else.  When that time comes, I’ll get a second set of scrolls for that project.

Happy Tuesday!

I’ve got 3 more colorways left to finish up Row 11 before the end of the month.  I think I can do it!

I’ve been watching flosstube videos on YouTube and I’m enjoying them.  It’s very similar to other crafty podcasts but specific to Cross Stitching.  I want one of those sit-down frame hoops that I can keep this project in and roll up as I finish a section.  But I’m trying not to bring more things into the house.  I’m a big fail where fabric and yarn are concerned but apparently, I’m able to stop myself on this one.  The ones I want are kind of pricey so that helps me stop myself.  I am sure if I find a good deal (like free!) I’d happily take one in.  For now, the little plastic hoops I put on and take off each time I sit down to stitch works.  It’s a pain to put them on and get it all ready but I’m doing it so it’s working.

On a side note, my car is in the shop.  It’s been in the shop since Saturday.  I was on my way to take the girl to the mall as one of my stops before heading to my bag class when the car died on me suddenly.  Oh, boy did the people behind me glare at me!  But what could I do?  Anyway, it’s been in the shop since Saturday.  The service people know what’s wrong with it, but the extended warranty I purchased is not giving them the approval (even though it’s covered) because of some issue. I was on the phone with a variety of different people all afternoon yesterday.  I need one person at one shop to “release” my car to the service shop it is in so that the warranty company will pay for it to be fixed.  So, I was stuck at home all day yesterday and when it came time to pick the kids up at school I took Lyft.  I’m hoping it gets resolved today so I can pick them up in my car.

Happy Tuesday!

I have 6 colorways left to finish row 11.  I’m a little behind if I want to get it done before the end of the month but I’m going to try to meet that goal!

I’m so sorry the picture quality is not the best. But it is what it is. I will try to do better next time.  I’m working on Row 9 and I’m just plugging along.  I try to do a bit each week and ultimately my goal is to get a row done each month.  Depending on how many colors in each row will depend on whether or not that is realistic.  I’m looking for a frame to use.  I do not want to spend a lot of money on this craft so I may just get the Q Snaps I see every where.  I’m hesitant because I generally buy the easy things I can get my hands on that I see every one else using.  But once I have it and start using it, I find reasons why I don’t like it and then I buy something else.  This is not my favorite craft and I do not want to spend a lot of money finding the best frame for me.  For those Cross Stitchers out there, what makes a good frame? What do you look for?  What should I pay attention to when looking for a frame?  I go back and forth between this plastic hoop that I loved when I got back into cross stitching a year or so ago and the traditional wooden hoop that I bought many moons ago at the big box hobby store.  Both work but I have to constantly remove the hoop when I put it away because while I mean to get back to the project in the next few days – sometimes I don’t and a few weeks or months may pass by.

Happy Monday!

Happy Saturday!

I was able to snag a picture with somewhat better lighting.  And I do not know why I’ve never done this before but watched some cross stitch tutorials on you tube.  I just had it on auto play.  This morning I realized that I watched all my regular podcasts/vlogs and was looking for something new.  Since I picked up my long term cross stitch project, Mama’s Bukid, I searched out cross stitch videos.  I’ve said this in past posts but in case you didn’t know, I learned to cross stitch in the 90’s with my grandma and I’m working through the crush of projects she and my mother purchased for me.  So my projects are dated and I never explored further than what my grandma taught me.  It didn’t even cross my mind.  Except that I’ve been watching a lot of podcasts lately and a number of them have mentioned cross stitching and some interesting ideas like starting, finishing, etc.  So while I was cross stitching I started watching.  I plan to integrate some of the new to me techniques to see if I like them and will let you know what I find.  In the meantime, here’s my current progress and it looks like the images in the sky of the bukid are changing.  It is exciting to see.  Somewhere I lost the picture that came with this project so it’s a mystery to us.  I know I liked it.  I know my mom picked this out.  I hope we still like it when it is finished. ;0

This last week my hubby’s uncle passed away.  The family is still recovering from the sudden passing of my brother-in-law so it’s really sad and heartbreaking to have this happen as well.  My heart goes out to my MIL and my cousin-in-laws and all the family over there.  Unfortunately, my hubby will not be able to make the trip back to the Philippines again as there’s just no money for a second trip and he’s not able to take the time off work again.  This last week was just his 2nd week back after almost 1 month off.  We will do what we can from here.

On a happier note, I took a bag class at my LQS.  It was for the Maxwell Bag by Abbey Lane.  The picture above is the picture of the bag on the pattern.  Here is picture of my bag still in progress:

The outer and inner parts put together

I’ll have to post about it separately as there is just too much to talk about…  It was supposed to be 2 evening sessions but it looks like we’re trying to get a 3rd evening thrown in so we can finish the bag.  I hope that happens soon.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!  I’m very excited to have a long weekend and enjoy the time crafting.  Tonight the hubby and I plan to join friends at a JoKoy comedy show.  It’s the first time we’re watching one of his shows.  We’ve seen him on an Adam Carolla show in Vegas one year but never on his own.  I’m excited to be doing something different.  Other than that, I’ll be crafting all weekend.

Happy Stitching!
