2016 Goals – August Mid Month Update

My OMG goal for August is to quilt Hampton Ridge.

==> I pressed the top; cut and pressed the back.  I still need to piece the back together and cut the batting.  I’m hoping to spend some quality time with this this weekend.

#1 – Get 6 quilts done in 2016

Quilt #1  – Tell It To The Stars – finished 2/20/2016

Quilt #2 – Scrapitude,2015 ==> finished 4/3/2016

Quilt #3 – Moon Glow – finished 7/30/2016

Quilt #4 – Hampton Ridge

==> I pressed the top; cut and pressed the back.  I still need to piece the back together and cut the batting.  I’m hoping to spend some quality time with this this weekend.

Quilt #5 – Raining Cats and Dogs – top was finished on 4/9/2016.  Now that I’m done with Moon Glow! 🙂 I plan to hand quilt a bit of this every day.  I’m still working on the cream colored quilting thread.

Quilt #6 – Celtic Solstice – continue to piece bits as leaders/enders.

==> this is being worked on a bit at a time.  Although I’m mixing in Missing Ivy’s borders in the leaders/enders to get them done.

Quilt #7  – Missing Ivy – finish step 14

==> working on these.  I ran out of white on white so I got a bit more while at the LQS.  I’ll need to cut again before I can get this step finished up.

Quilt #8 – LQS 2012 BOM “Provence” – Continue working on the alternative block.

==> haven’t touched this yet.

#2 – Continue to count my stash, with a true effort to not add fabric on a whim.

==> went to my guild sale and this went out the wayside.  I haven’t counted it all but I’m sure I’m way in the red.  I’ll need to get Hampton Ridge finished quickly to get back in the black.

#3 – Create a hobby budget a stick to it!

My budget for the year was $3,000 and I surpassed it.  I’ve adjusted this goal to simply continue tracking how much I spend on my hobbies.

==> Current crafty spending for 2016 as of 7/30/2016 is $3735.08

#4 – Knit weekly

My goal for August is to get back to working on my purple socks each week.  I really need to work on this more than one weekend each month if I want these done in any sort of time frame.  I’ll change my goal so that I work on this once a week.  I just realized that I still have to do the other sock. ;0

#5 – Cross Stitch weekly

Now that the Welcome Project is done, I’m solely working on Mama’s Bukid.  I’m working on this a bit at a time and I’m happy with my progress so we’ll continue doing that.

#6 – Scrapbook

… I’m still the same on this… I want to do some scrapbooking but everything is so nicely put away I’m afraid to take anything out.  I know that all I need is one box and that I’ll use whatever is in that box but … I’m not ready to move this into a place where I can actually work on it regularly.

2016 Goals – July Update

My OMG goal for July is to finish Moon Glow.  I finished quilting this this month and I’m working on binding it.  OMG goal accomplished for July! woot woot!

#1 – Get 6 quilts done in 2016

Quilt #1  – Tell It To The Stars – finished 2/20/2016

Quilt #2 – Scrapitude,2015 finished 4/3/2016

Quilt #3 – Moon Glow – My goal for July is to finish quilting Moon Glow.  I need to finish quilting the last 2 borders, bind and label it.

==> done!

Quilt #4 – Hampton Ridge – this is in queue to be quilted.  For July, I want to get the back and label ready for it.

==> I decided to hold off on this.  I want to get Moon Glow finished before I move on this one.

Quilt #5 – Raining Cats and Dogs – top was finished on 4/9/2016.  My goal for July is to hand quilt 3-4 times each week.  I’m working on the cream colored quilting thread and hopefully I will be done with all of the outlining by the end of July.  I’m about a third through.

==> I hand quilted a bit early in July but then put it on hold while I finished binding Moon Glow.  I plan to start working on this again in August.

Quilt #6 – Celtic Solstice – continue to piece bits as leaders/enders.

==> yup.. this is being worked on slowly.

Quilt #7  – Missing Ivy – finish step 11 which is to piece the inner quilt together.

==> Another DONE! yes!  I originally planned to get step 12 done in August but after checking out my progress plans on all my quilts realized that once Hampton Ridge is in the quilt frame, I no longer have any quilts in queue.  So I checked out step 12 and realized that step 12 was part of piecing the inner quilt together.  I finished step 13 last week and I’m on step 14.

Quilt #8 – LQS 2012 BOM “Provence” – finish last block and do the next step of the alternating blocks.

==> the last block is now done and I started working on the alternative blocks.

#2 – Continue to count my stash, with a true effort to not add fabric on a whim.

Keep counting and doing a great job staying in the black.  I need to update the stash numbers with most recent travel purchases.

====> Okay, so I bought more fabric in July than I meant to and part of it was okay because I needed to get binding for Moon Glow.  I also needed to spend my gift certificate.  But all the other purchases?  I am going to try to do better next month.

#3 – Create a hobby budget a stick to it!

My budget for the year was $3,000 and I surpassed it.  I’ve adjusted this goal to simply continue tracking how much I spend on my hobbies.  I need to update the spent numbers with my recent travel purchases.

#4 – Knit weekly

My goal for July is to finish the purple socks I started.

====> I actually touched this a bit this last weekend but all I did was knit 2 rows.   I’ll need to step this one up if I want it to be done anytime soon. 🙂

#5 – Cross Stitch weekly

#6 – Scrapbook

I haven’t done anything for this.  It’s at the bottom of my priority list so… I find that everything else is taking up my crafty time.  I hope that as the months continue my work life is less consuming and I can spend a few extra hours on my crafty stuff. And then be able to spend some time on scrapbooking! 🙂

… I’m thinking I may have to take this off my list.  I never seem to make this a priority.  It’s primarily because it’s hard to get to my stuff, pull it out and then put it away.  It makes me sad to write this so maybe I won’t.

2016 Goals – June Update

Well, I didn’t get my OMG done for this month.  I only had half the month to get it done and just ran out of time before I jumped on a plane to Florida.  Here’s where I stand at the end of the month:

#1 – Get 6 quilts done in 2016

Quilt #1  – Tell It To The Stars – finished 2/20/2016

Quilt #2 – Scrapitude,2015 ==> finished 4/3/2016

Quilt #3 – Moon Glow – My goal for June is to finish quilting Moon Glow.

==> not done.  I’ll have to move this to July.

Quilt #4 – Hampton Ridge – this is in queue. I still need to get the backing and label ready for this. But I will not get going on this until Moon Glow is being quilted.  If I can get Moon Glow quilted in June I hope to get this on the frame in July.

==> Moon Glow is not done but is off the frame.  As soon as I’m done quilting Moon Glow’s borders I need to get the back of Hampton Ridge pieced together and embroider a label for this.  I may still be able to get Hampton Ridge on the frame in July.

===> Same spot but once Moon Glow is completed, I intend to focus on Hampton Ridge to get this done too.

Quilt #5 – Raining Cats and Dogs – top was finished on 4/9/2016.  I am hand quilting this and I am thoroughly enjoying it.  I started with the cream color quilting thread and I’m outlining parts. I finished the first block and I’m working a bit at a time.  I’m not really going in any kind of order since I have this machine quilted to keep everything stable.

Raining Cats and Dogs 5/22/2016

Raining Cats and Dogs

==> hand quilting this and I’m working on outlining everything with regular quilting thread.  I’m on the third block.  I’m already starting to get ideas on what to do next.  It’s a nice slow process that I’m enjoying for this one.

===> same spot since I left this at home.  It’s too cumbersome to bring on a plane and travel with. 🙂

Quilt #6 – Celtic Solstice – continue to piece bits as leaders/enders.

==> still doing this as a leaders/enders project.  I’ve got a lot of pieces put together for block B.  Pretty soon I’ll be able to start lining things up and piecing the rows together.

Quilt #7  – Missing Ivy – finish step 11 which is to piece the inner quilt together.

#2 – Continue to count my stash, with a true effort to not add fabric on a whim.

I hope to make it to a quilt shop during our travels and I do plan to buy fabric.  🙂

==> I’m still in the black.  I’m buying fabric but mailing to participate in my guild’s strip club.  So every month I add about 2 yards because of it.  And since I’ve got to go to my LQS to get fabric for the club, I end up buying a yard or two of other favorite items.

===> while on vacation I added 2 yards.  I haven’t had a chance to post a stash update but I’ll get to that at some point.  I’m lucky to only have added 2 yards.  I visited 4 quilt shops and have not yet been tempted to add a lot of yardage.  I’ll have to write up my experiences at some point and tell you why.

#3 – Create a hobby budget a stick to it!

My budget for the year was $3,000 and I surpassed it.  I’ve adjusted this goal to simply continue tracking how much I spend on my hobbies.

==> Current crafty spending for 2016 as of 5/31/16 is $3297.01.

===> I spent some money but it wasn’t a lot of damage.  Not like I was anticipating.

#4 – Knit weekly

My goal for June is to knit a pair of socks.

==> I am halfway through one sock.

#5 – Cross Stitch weekly

==> Not done. I ran out of the floss I was using to embroider and my Joann’s was out.  It will have to wait until I return.

2016 Goals – June Mid Month Update

By the time you read this, I’ll be on a plane to Florida with the family.  Posting will be haphazard and probably not very quilty related unless I make it to a quilt shop.  I plan to. 🙂  In the meantime, it’s the middle of the month and time for my mid-month update.  I didn’t get Moon Glow quilted and I will not be back until July so I did not get my OMG done for this month.  🙁  That’s okay. I tried my hardest and that’s all that matters.  The Bernina and the girl’s Bernette is in the shop while we head off and that’s a good thing.  Those babies worked hard this year and deserve some spa time.

#1 – Get 6 quilts done in 2016

2016 Goals – June Goals

June is here and I’ll be in Florida for half the month.  So I don’t think much progress will be made but I’ll do what I can.  I do plan to take some handwork with me and I hope I am able to work on whatever I bring.

For the first time, I’m linking up with Red Letter Quilts’ One Monthly Goal.  Click the logo above  to get to the linky.  I’ve got a lot of goals for June listed here but the one goal that I absolutely want to have done in June is to finish quilting Moon Glow.  I don’t plan to have the binding and label on until July but the quilting MUST be done in June. 🙂

#1 – Get 6 quilts done in 2016

Quilt #1  – Tell It To The Stars – finished 2/20/2016

My budget for the year was $3,000 and I surpassed it.  I’ve adjusted this goal to simply continue tracking how much I spend on my hobbies.

==> Current crafty spending for 2016 as of 5/31/16 is $3297.01.

#4 – Knit weekly

My goal for June is to knit a pair of socks.

#5 – Cross Stitch weekly

My goal is to finish the Welcome project in June.

2016 Goals – May Update

Almost halfway through the year… time is flying by…

#1 – Get 6 quilts done in 2016

Quilt #1  – Tell It To The Stars – finished 2/20/2016

Quilt #2 – Scrapitude,2015 ==> finished 4/3/2016

Quilt #3 – Moon Glow – My goal for May is to quilt Moon Glow.

===> This quilt is on the frame and I’m working on it a bit at a time.  I would like to get this quilted in June.

Quilt #4 – Hampton Ridge – this is in queue. I still need to get the backing and label ready for this. But I will not get going on this until Moon Glow is being quilted.  If I can get Moon Glow quilted in June I hope to get this on the frame in July.

Quilt #5 – Raining Cats and Dogs – top was finished on 4/9/2016.  I finished the part I wanted to machine quilt.  My goal is to take this slow and hand quilt this.

===> I am working hand quilting this and I am thoroughly enjoying it.  Right now I started with the cream color quilting thread and I’m outlining parts. I finished the first block and I’m working a bit at a time.  I’m not really going in any kind of order since I have this machine quilted to keep everything stable.

Quilt #6 – Celtic Solstice – I am piecing Block B as leaders and enders of other projects.  I’ve got bits put together but no blocks done yet.

===> this continues to be my leaders/enders project.

Quilt #7  – Missing Ivy – I got through step 9 and the remaining steps is for the border.  I’ve had a number of suggestions that I could skip the border and finish it as is (assuming it’s big enough).  I want to do the border.  It wouldn’t look finish to me if I skip it. ==> I am through step 10 now.  I want to get through step 11 by the end of May.

===> I am still working on Step 11.  I’ve got pairs of blocks pieced together and I’m working on getting the rows done.

Quilt #7 – LQS 2012 BOM “Provence” – I added this project to this list earlier in the month to alternate with Missing Ivy as I felt the need to.  I don’t have a goal for this project this month since I just pulled it out on a whim. 🙂

===> I have 2 blocks left to finish for this quilt.  I want to get 1 block done in June.

#2 – Continue to count my stash, with a true effort to not add fabric on a whim.

My goal is to continue to stay in the black.  ==> I did buy a bit this month and my net used yardage shrank a bit but I’m still in the black so that’s all good. 🙂

==> for May I added 7.5 yards.  But I’m still in the black for the year!  yay!  I can’t wait to finish Moon Glow so I can add it to my yardage used.

#3 – Create a hobby budget a stick to it!

My budget for the year was $3,000 and I surpassed it.  I’ve adjusted this goal to simply continue tracking how much I spend on my hobbies.

==> Current crafty spending for 2016 as of 5/31/16 is $3297.01

#4 – Knit weekly

My goal for May is to work a bit each week on the Rosie Hat.

==> This was finished this month! yay!

2016 Goals – Mid May Update

I forgot to do my mid month check of my monthly goals.

#1 – Get 6 quilts done in 2016

Quilt #1  – Tell It To The Stars – finished 2/20/2016

Quilt #2 – Scrapitude,2015 ==> finished 4/3/2016

Quilt #3 – Moon Glow – My goal for May is to quilt Moon Glow.

===> I haven’t done anything with this yet.  I plan to go and check out how to rent the long arm.  But I’m not yet convinced that I’m going to actually rent the long arm.  I do want to check it out though.

Quilt #4 – Hampton Ridge – this is in queue. I still need to get the backing and label ready for this. But I will not get going on this until Moon Glow is being quilted.

Quilt #5 – Raining Cats and Dogs – top was finished on 4/9/2016.  I finished the part I wanted to machine quilt.  My goal is to take this slow and hand quilt this.  I haven’t even started.

Quilt #6 – Celtic Solstice – I was able to get this organized and once Raining Cats and Dogs is out of the machine, I’ll be piecing Block B in between piecing for Missing Ivy. ==> I am piecing Block B as leaders and enders of other projects.  I’ve got bits put together but no blocks done yet.

#4 – Knit weekly

My goal for May is to work a bit each week on the Rosie Hat.

==> I am very much in the decreasing part of this hat.  If I continue to work on this each week, I think I can be done with it in May, maybe June.

#5 – Cross Stitch weekly
