Happy Tuesday!

I started a new project!  I went through my UFO bin and my kit bin and decided to get going on the mystery quilt from the 2012 SoCal Quilters Run.  This one is from Area One.  I discovered when I went through the bag that I didn’t have all the kits for all the shops.  I believe I have all the blocks just not all the fabric. 🙁  I’m kind of sad about this but what can you do.  I figure I’ll just work on all the blocks where I have fabric and then when I get to the point I don’t have the kits I’ll use whatever fabric I have left.  If I still need more I’ll just have to go shopping. 🙂

Happy Tuesday!

I had such a great response on Have Yourself a Quilty Little Christmas! Thanks to everyone who commented on it.  Here are some close ups of the blocks from this month’s kit.

I love the snow globe block!  At the shop, we fussy cut the picture we wanted.  The fabric is Riley Blake Pixie Noel Main in Aqua.  large_0443296

Rather than ask me which image I liked, Susan, our fearless BOM leader, asked me what makes my heart sing.  I love that.  Initially I was just going to pick whatever but when she asked me that, I took a moment and looked at each image before I selected the one I picked.  This fabric is too cute and I may just end up getting a yard or two of this one to do something with in the future.

I’ve been slowly getting the alternate blocks done on my Provence quilt. Here is the block with the first round done.  I’m currently working on getting the second round done for this week.  I’m about halfway through.

Happy Tuesday!

I know that this top looks done but there is still one more set to put together and attach.   I’ll be picking that up on Thursday and I hope to get started on it this weekend.  We’ll see how things play out.

These are supposed to be wreaths but the bows are to be stitched on after quilting.  So for now, here’s how block 1 looks.

I woke up way too early at 2:30am.  And I couldn’t go back to sleep so I used the found time to work on the first block for Have yourself a quilty little Christmas!  As fiddly as this block is, I actually enjoyed making them and watching the seems come together so nicely.  I admit I over-pinned each part.  I waited for the sun to come out so I can take a good picture and post my progress for you.  It’s still not finished yet as I’ve got sashing and stuff to add before I can move on but I should get that done pretty quickly.

I do have a meeting tonight for one of the committees I’m in with my quilt guild.  We’re having a Sewing Room Tour at 7 homes throughout the San Fernando Valley on Sunday.  I’m excited to see the homes but I can’t wait for this to be done.  Now that the hubby is working, I have had to seriously take a look at all my commitments and reevaluate my involvement.  As much as I enjoyed being a part of the committee, I will not be able to do any more at this time.  I will still be part of the guild and take part in the regular member activities.  I hope that as I get used to my new normal I’ll be able to do something later.

Sorry for the late night picture.  I took a break from binding last night and prepped the fabric for the first block of the September kit for Have yourself a little quilty Christmas!  I hope I’ll have time tonight to put it together.
