WIP Wednesday – 4/26/17

  Happy Wednesday!

A little late to the party today but I just finished… FINISHED… quilting Missing Ivy…

Missing Ivy
Finished top!
10/10/16

As always, I quilted the main body of it at my local sewing machine place – Baron’s in Woodland Hills, CA – on their Bernina long arm.  I finished that last month and since then it’s been waiting for me to get around to quilting the borders on my domestic.  Work consumed my life for the latter part of March and then quarterly tasks took over in April.  🙁  To be honest, I was also feeling the knitting bug and spent a lot of time playing with yarn.  I was able to get the quilt on my domestic Monday evening and now the borders are all quilted! yaass!

I’ve got two tops done.. Missing Ivy and Celtic Solstice.  I was able to reserve the long arm for the last Saturday of this month and my plan is to get Missing Ivy quilted.  Have yourself a Quilty Little Christmas is almost done and I hope to get this top finished this month.  I plan to go through my closet and go through the remaining UFOs and WIPs.  I have to take note of them and update my UFO page.  I also have to figure out what’s next on my crafty plan.

Celtic Solstice Prepping Border #3 2/1/2017

Prepping Border #3

I’m not really partial to yellow but the girl said that the yellow was the best of all the fabrics I showed her.  The blue and orange didn’t go since it was too close to the blue/orange pieced border #2. The green I had was too dark and I didn’t want to go diving into the stash bins.  I’m going to do a scrappy yellow border for #3.  I’m planning on interspersing some of those pale yellows that’s coming off as neutral.

Here are the pairs of blocks pieced together on my design floor.  I felt the need to take another pic of Provence to post today.  I am hoping to get those side triangles cut and ready to go for my sewing marathon this weekend.  Remember this is the 2012 block of the month at my LQS that I pulled from my UFO bin.  Not to be confused with Bonnie Hunter’s mystery quilt this season En Provence.

WIP Wednesday – 11/23/2016

  Happy Wednesday!

This week my goal for Provence is “I need to figure out what the next step is.”

Provence 11/23/2016

I laid out all the blocks and in the picture you’ll see that the corner blocks is the same green fabric as the center of the alternative blocks.  The original fabric was supposed to be the dark blue with the dots that shown in the alternative blocks.  I went through all my fabric for this project and I didn’t have enough of the dark blue.  It’s weird I was confident that I bought all the fabric that I needed.  I do not know if I took some of it to use somewhere else at some point or if I just didn’t buy enough.  🙁  Which is probably the case since this seems to happen to me a lot with projects I started in that time frame.  I’ve learned that lesson over and over again as I finish up UFOs started in that era.  The fabric is 1219 olde world style by Monique Dillard for Maywood Studio.  Since this was a Block of the Month from my LQS in 2012 I didn’t have much hope of finding the same fabric there.  A quick online search, and I couldn’t find anything available online either.  I needed to pick up the final kit for “Have yourself a quilty little Christmas”  so I trekked it over to my LQS to find something to use.  Luckily they still had the same green that I used for the center of alternative blocks.  I bought a yard, took it home and proceeded to MISCUT it.  Yup, now I have to go buy another yard.  I had just enough to get my corner triangles but I do not have enough for the side triangles.  I’ll have to find time to go back and get some. 🙂

In the meantime, I’ve organized all the rows without the side triangles and can start piecing pairs together.

WIP Wednesday – 10/26/2016

  Happy Wednesday!

I haven’t posted a separate WIP Wednesday in awhile.  But now I’ve got something to share.  I actually spent some time with my sewing machine Tuesday afternoon.  The first to do item on my Monday goal list was to figure out what the next step for Celtic Solstice is.  That next step is pairing up Block As and Block Bs together.  I have 5 pairs so far and many more to go.

And since Celtic Solstice is passed my leader/ender stage I needed to find a new leader/ender project.  I pulled out Scrapitude 2016 and started piecing these units together.  I need to make a lot of them so this project will be very similar to how I worked on Celtic Solstice this year.
