Happy Saturday, friends!  It’s a wonderful thing to be caught up!  Here is Block 3 of my current LQS’ BOM Have Yourself a Little Quilty Christmas! based on the blocks in Lori Holt’s Quilty Fun! Now I can put it away and not think about it until 9/14 when we pick up the next kit.  If I remember correctly, this is a 6 month project so we’re halfway through.  If you missed the previous posts from this week, here’s a quick peak at the previous finishes:

Sorry for the shadows on the pics.  Now that I’m caught up with this BOM, I’m going to focus next on my Spooky Halloween blocks.  This is another BOM offered through my LQS.  It started a month or two before the Christmas one and the idea is that we will have the top done by Halloween.  hahahaha… I don’t think so.  To be fair, there is a lot of appliquè in this project and I’m not a fast appliquè-er.  And, I’d rather enjoy the process than try to get this thing done quickly.  So, I plan to concentrate next on all the blocks I can piece together.  I’ll still appliquè a bit when I have time which tends to be on the weekends.  I believe I have the 4th kit in my project bin but I haven’t yet pieced all the blocks in the 3rd kit.  I’ll be working on those next. As I’ve been mentioning, I’ve been piecing the pieced border for Missing Ivy as a leader/ender for the last week or so.  It’s almost done.  I probably have 4-5 more to put together and it will be ready to finish and put on to Missing Ivy.  Once that is ready, I plan to finish that step and move on to the next one. 🙂 Things are progressing very nicely.

Back to school hit us hard this past week.  It’s the girl’s second week of school and the boy’s first week.  And sheesh were we all tired.  We had a couple of school meetings to attend in the evenings – a volunteer mixer at my girl’s school for those of us interested in volunteering and looking to find out what kind of opportunities there were.  And a new parent to my boy’s middle school.  And a couple of dinners with friends.  I think I overscheduled and I’ll need to be more careful now that we’re back to school.  Children grow up so fast and I’m trying not to think to hard on that.  So, today we’re hosting an End of Summer BBQ and Swim Party at our house.  🙂  Later today, I’ll be driving around picking up all the food I ordered while the hubby gets the grill going.  I am going to enjoy the heat before it starts cooling down!

Weekend Lineup

I started going through the bags and boxes of scrapbooking stuff… Here’s a pic to remind you of what my sewing room looked like:

And I was easily overwhelmed.  I decided to work on quilting Tell It To The Stars and was able to get all the dark blue parts quilted.  This morning I’m working on the orange parts.

But I started going through those bags last night and realized that the reason my scrapbooking stuff is organized in this way was because I used to be a Creative Memories consultant and I would drag all my stuff and inventory all around the state with me.  I would have weekend scrapbooking events at my mom’s house, at my house and wherever people let me in.  So everything had to be packed up and ready to go at all times.  When I stopped doing that, I never reorganized my stuff so that it was in a user-friendly environment.  It was always just easier to keep it in the bags and just drag them with me from house to house.  I’m seriously overwhelmed with all my stuff.

There are three main sections of my scrapbooking stuff:

#1 – the memories – these consist of all my pictures, the kids drawings, the knickknacks I’ve kept with the sole purpose of adding them to our scrapbooks.

#2 – the tools – these are the cutters, the rulers, the pens, etc.  These are all in one of those bags.

#3 – the supplies – these are the pages and stickers and papers and I’ve got a ton of these that are still in their original packages.

I don’t know how I’m going to store all this stuff.  I know I want to get back into scrapbooking this year so I need to figure out a way that is organized and user friendly.

Also, if you are interested in seeing what I’ve got, let me know and I’ll start posting them.  Last night I threw away a few of those bags as I emptied them out and I cringed.  I know there is someone out there who might want them.  The bags will be too expensive to ship but if you’re local to the Los Angeles area, it’s yours.  All the other stuff can be shipped out easily.

Have a great crafty Saturday!

I’m being overtaken by borders and backing…

It seems like Tell It To The Stars is never done… I fixed the error I made on Gray border #1 and started on Gray border #2.  I am loving the gray combination and I’m glad I made the choice to go with gray.  I am also glad I went with the lighter gray first as it make a good gradated change to the darker gray.  I will have to run to my LQS later because I ran out of the darker gray.  I have a bit left but not enough to get the darker gray on the two remaining sides.  I would have thought 4 yards of the grays would have been enough but apparently not. 🙂

Happy Quilting friends!
