Monday’s POA – week 12, 2018

Here were my goals from last week:

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 12 – get half way through row 12 – DONE! and I actually did a bit more than halfway!
  • Celtic Solstice – measure the backing and prep the batting. Find a place to quilt this sometime next week. … I really wanted to get this quilted this month but this weekend is the only weekend I can quilt it.  If I am able to measure the backing and prep the batting during the weekdays then I’ll be able to quilt it on Saturday.  The problem is I don’t know if I’ll have time to do it.  I have something going on every night except Friday.  I think the most important thing is to measure the backing and as long as that measures right I should be able to get the batting cut and prepped for Saturday.  So I will try to measure the backing Monday afternoon and if it is good to go I will schedule time on the Long Arm for Saturday.  😀 wish me luck…  – NOT DONE!  I was able to measure the back but I didn’t have a chance to do it during the week so I could then schedule time over the weekend.  So I measured the back this weekend.  It is barely 120×120 and I’m going to go with it.  I know that I’m pushing one side and if I load it a bit off then the quilt will slant and I will not have enough backing.  I hope I have enough.
  • UFO list – finalize this and bring it to my guild meeting to turn in. – NOT DONE!  I am having a hard time writing this list so I’m just going to not do this right now.
  • Rainbow Garden – do a little bit of work on this on Sunday. – DONE!  and I’m almost finished with block 8!
  • Knitting projects:
    • Derive socks – March pattern for the Wanderlust Sock Club
      • do the heels and start the foot – DONE!
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – the cuffs! – DONE!
    • Cowl – continue to do a round a day on this project. – NOT DONE!

And for this week’s goals, here’s what I want to get done.

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 12 – finish the row
  • Celtic Solstice – This upcoming weekend we are having a small get together for the boy’s birthday so I will not be able to quilt this project.  I will see if I can schedule time to rent the long arm for the first weekend of April.
  • Rainbow Garden – do a little bit of work on this on Sunday. And wouldn’t it be great to get this finished and get block 9 started?
  • Knitting projects:
    • Derive socks – March pattern for the Wanderlust Sock Club
      • Finish the foot and toe and finish these socks!
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – Mattress stitch the pieces and then work on the neck.  Wouldn’t it be great to get all the ends woven in and have this as a finish this week?
    • Cowl – continue to do a round a day on this project.

Happy Crafting!

Monday’s POA – week 11, 2018

Here were my goals from last week:

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 11 – I’m halfway through row 11 so I want to finish it this week. – DONE!
  • Celtic Solstice – measure the backing and prep the batting. Find a place to quilt this sometime next week. – NOT DONE!
  • UFO list – finalize this and bring it to my guild meeting to turn in. – NOT DONE!
  • Rainbow Garden – do a little bit of work on this on Sunday. – DONE!
  • Knitting projects:
    • Derive socks – March pattern for the Wanderlust Sock Club
      • These came out on 3/1 and I started the cuff (I work my socks cuff down).  I’ve got all the ribbing done and I am starting the pattern of the leg.  Each pattern repeat is about 12 rounds.  I usually do not make my socks very long in the leg area but I would like to see how these feel longer than I normally make them.  I think if I made them the length I usually make them it will be about 2 pattern repeats (about 24 rounds) so I’ll try to get in 3 pattern repeats this week.  If I like how the pattern is knitting up, and I have the time, I may even do a 4th pattern repeat before I start the heel. – DONE! I actually did 4 repeats and I’m ready to start the heel.
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – I need Kayla to try this on again and determine if I should do the ribbing of the cuff now on the sleeves or continue in stockinette a bit longer. – DONE! I am actually on the cuff now and I am planning on doing about 3-4 inches of cuff.  I hope to get the cuffs done this week.
    • Cowl – continue to do a round a day on this project. – ummm… Okay so that short answer is NOT DONE! but I did it for most days.  I think there was only one or two days that I didn’t work on this project and that’s really okay.  Even though this is one of my priority projects its Priority #3 and I don’t have to really touch it every day.  I just need to touch it most days and it will get done eventually.  I’m about halfway through right now.

And for this week’s goals, here’s what I want to get done.

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 12 – get half way through row 12
😀 wish me luck…

  • Knitting projects:
    • Derive socks – March pattern for the Wanderlust Sock Club
      • do the heels and start the foot
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – the cuffs!
    • Cowl – continue to do a round a day on this project.

Monday’s POA – week 10, 2018

Here were my goals from last week:

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 10 – FINISH ROW 10 – DONE
  • Celtic Solstice – finish piecing the backing! – DONE. Well, I think I’m done. I got it all pieced together and then I trimmed it up to square it up.  I was so tired being on my knees on the floor that I didn’t have the energy to measure and see if it finished at 120×120. I hope it did.  I’ll have to measure it next week.
  • I also need to get a list of my UFOs jotted down for my guild meeting in a couple of weeks.  We are doing a UFO challenge and I’m not sure what UFOs I have. I know I have a bunch but it’s always helpful to have a list so I can be mindful of what I’m working on. – DONE BUT NOT DONE. I wrote down a list so technically it’s done.  But it’s not a great list and I’m not sure I’ll submit it.  I really should because what makes it a great list?  I don’t know. But it wasn’t inspiring.  What would make a UFO list inspiring?  I don’t know but these are the thoughts going on in my head.
  • Rainbow Garden – do a little bit of work on this on Sunday. – DONE.
  • Knitting projects:
    • Warm and Snug socks – February pattern for the Cosy Sock Club
      • I have one more stripe for the foot and then I plan to finish the toes and this project will be a done. And since I used 2 balls of knit picks felici, that’s 2 balls I can mark on my “used” yarn for this week. – DONE.
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – continue to work on the sleeves.  I am at the point where I need to have Kayla try this on.  That will tell me how much longer I need to go. – DONE. I got the sleeves to the point in the pattern where it says I’m done and I need to start the cuffs.  I had Kayla try it on a few rows ago and it was fitting well.  At the time she asked me to make the sleeves so that it came a few inches (about 3) past her wrists so I’m not sure if I’ll put a few more rows in stockinette and then start the cuff or start the cuff now and have a few extra inches of cuff.  We’ll see.
    • Cowl – continue to do a round a day on this project. – DONE. I didn’t do every day but I did most days and that’s good!

And for this week’s goals, here’s what I want to get done.

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 11 – I’m halfway through row 11 so I want to finish it this week.
  • Celtic Solstice – measure the backing and prep the batting. Find a place to quilt this sometime next week.

Monday’s POA – week 9, 2018

Lake Tahoe
02/17/2018

Here were my goals from last week:

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 10 – get halfway through row 10. ==> DONE!
  • Celtic Solstice – finish piecing the backing – Again, I’m not going to be able to do this this week.  This weekend is QuiltCon so I will not be able to get to this project over the weekend. ==> I hope to get to this this coming weekend. I have some errands to run and some major tasks (my corporate taxes is one of them) but I hope I will be able to get this done this coming weekend.
  • Rainbow Garden – Since I’ll be at QuiltCon this weekend this is another project I will not be able to work on.  Oh well.  I’m really excited about hanging out at QuiltCon and hopefully meet some fellow Twilters! ==> I spent some time at QuiltCon but with our trip last weekend I was not feeling the itch to be at QuiltCon. I have to remember this next time around not to plan too many things one weekend after another.
  • Knitting projects:
    • Warm and Snug socks – February pattern for the Cosy Sock Club
      • Work on the foot this week. I finished the heels this weekend and now I’m working on the foot.  I hope to get a lot of the foot done this week so I can finish these socks by next week.  I think I’m right on schedule.  I’m sure faster knitters are laughing at me right now but it’s all stockinette knitting and it is so BORING. I can’t sit and do round after round of stockinette knitting.  Instead I try to do about 5 rounds per day so by the end of this week I should be at the 35 round mark.  I need about 48 rounds for my foot so if I follow the plan I should be on track for finishing next week. 🙂
        • ==> DONE!
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – continue to work on the sleeves ==> DONE!
    • Cowl – continue to do a round a day on this project. ==> DONE!

And for this week’s goals, here’s what I want to get done.

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 10 – FINISH ROW 10
  • Celtic Solstice – finish piecing the backing!

Monday’s POA – week 8, 2018

We’ll be heading home today.  My family loves a good road trip so hopefully the roads are clear.

Here were my goals from last week:

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, finish row 9 – I actually almost have half of row 9 done.  So I would really like to get through all of row 9 this week!
    • UPDATE – DONE!
  • Celtic Solstice – finish piecing the backing – I’m not going to be able to do this this week.  We will be out of town this weekend celebrating the long weekend so I will not be able to do the massive piecing this requires.
  • Rainbow Garden – work a bit on it on Sunday
    • UPDATE – DONE!
  • Knitting projects:
    • Warm and Snug socks – February pattern for the Cosy Sock Club
      • finish the leg so I can do the heels this coming weekend.
      • UPDATE – DONE!  This was a bit of a cheat as I just decided that I would work on the leg last week and wherever I was Friday I would start the heels.  And so I did.
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – continue to work on the sleeves
      • UPDATE – DONE!  I’m not done with the sleeves but I’m still working on it.  I didn’t take this project with me to Tahoe so I didn’t work on it this weekend but I’ll continue to work on it this week.
    • Cowl – since I finished the Martine hat, I moved my Cowl to one of the top 3 primary projects I work on each week.
      • UPDATE – DONE!  I have been working a bit on this project every day when I can.  This is the third item on my daily knitting projects so I do not always get to it every day.  But I do on most days so I am seeing a lot of progress on this one.

And for this week’s goals, here’s what I want to get done.

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page, 5, row 10 – get halfway through row 10.
  • Celtic Solstice – finish piecing the backing – Again, I’m not going to be able to do this this week.  This weekend is QuiltCon so I will not be able to get to this project over the weekend.

  • Celtic Solstice – finish piecing the backing – MOSTLY DONE. I STILL HAVE TO PUT TOGETHER 20″ X 120″ TO FINISH THE BACK.
  • Rainbow Garden – work a bit on it on Sunday – DONE!
  • Knitting projects:
    • Warm and Snug socks – February pattern for the Cosy Sock Club
      • finish the cuff and knit a lot of the leg. – DONE!
    • Weasley Sweater for Kayla – continue to work on the sleeves – YUP… DID SOME WORK ON THESE!
    • Martine Hat – Finish the last 4 rounds of the hat and start the next part. – DONE!  THIS PROJECT IS FINISHED! WOOT!  WOOT!  I’LL FEATURE THIS PROJECT IN AN UPCOMING POST THIS WEEK.

And for this week’s goals, here’s what I want to get done.

Monday’s Plan of Action for week 3, 2018

First, my plan is to finish my 2018 crafty plan posts and post them. – DONE

Second, I want to get going on the routine I’ve set for myself and see how it will work.  You’ll read more about my routine when we get to the last post of my 2018 crafty plan. – I POSTED THE ROUTINE AND SO FAR, I’M FOLLOWING IT.

Third, create January goals… – DONE

Here were the specific crafty goals I made last week:

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page 5, Row 5 – Finish Row 5.  I am halfway through and will post an updated picture some time this week. – DONE
  • Resfeder socks – do 5 rounds per day, which would be about 35 rounds for the week.  I believe that will mean that by the end of the week, I’ll be done with the leg and ready to start the heels. – DONE
  • Christmas socks – I’m working on the foot and I have about 2-3 pattern repeats to do until I’m able to start on the toes. – DONE
  • Harry Potter – I have to connect the shoulder and start on the sleeves. – DONE BUY THE GIRL TRIED IT ON AND WOULD LIKE THE SLEEVES TO BE A BIT BIGGER.  SO I’VE GOT TO RIP OUT WHAT I’VE DONE FOR THE SLEEVES (LUCKILY IT’S ONLY A COULD OF ROWS) AND REDO IT A BIT BIGGER.  I NEED TO DO IT ABOUT 2 INCHES BIGGER.
  • Celtic Solstice – put the back together. – I DID GET STARTED AND I’M WORKING ON IT.

And for this week’s goals, here’s what I want to get done.

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page 5, Row 7 – I realized last week that somewhere along the way my numbers got messed up.  I’m actually in the middle of row 7 right now and I’d like to finish row 7 this week.  There are 14 rows on one page so when I finish this I’ll be halfway through page 2!
  • Resfeder socks – finish the heel
  • Christmas socks – finish the toes, kitchener, take a picture and post to ravelry.
  • Harry Potter Weasley Sweater for daughter – I’d like to create a page so that I can take appropriate pictures to make it easier for me/you to find and rip out the sleeve portion I’ve already done and redo it a bit bigger.
  • Celtic Solstice – Continue piecing the back together.
  • I’ve got Road2CA this week!

Happy Crafting!

Monday’s Plan of Action for week 2, 2018

Now that I’m not sick and I have the desire to get things done I’ve got a number of things on my to do list this week.

First, my plan is to finish my 2018 crafty plan posts and post them.

Second, I want to get going on the routine I’ve set for myself and see how it will work.  You’ll read more about my routine when we get to the last post of my 2018 crafty plan.

Third, create January goals…

For specific crafty goals for this week, here are the things …

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page 5, Row 5 – Finish Row 5.  I am halfway through and will post an updated picture some time this week.
  • Resfeder socks – do 5 rounds per day, which would be about 35 rounds for the week.  I believe that will mean that by the end of the week, I’ll be done with the leg and ready to start the heels.

2 weeks til Christmas…

Here are the things …

  • Starting point Shawl – Continue knitting 600 stitches per day. I want to be 75% through the final clue.
    • done and I’m actually closer to 85% done… Here’s my current picture…

Starting Point
12/10/2017

  • Mama’s Bukid – Page 5, Row 4 – finish Row 4 and start Row 5
    • done!

Mama’s Bukid
12/10/2017

  • St. Patty’s Socks and Secret Mandala sock blank – finish the decreases and start the foot.
    • done
  • Harry Potter – knit 2 rows per day.
    • not done!
  • On Ringo Lake – piece 12 geese per day until Clue #3 is released.
    • not done!

This week’s goals:

  • Starting point Shawl – Finish this!  I have quite a few rows left but the actually number of stitches isn’t that much.  I currently have about 80 stitches per row and I’m steadily decreasing 4 stitches every other row.  So, I will continue to do 600 stitches and I should be done this week.
  • Mama’s Bukid – Page 5, Row 5 – Get halfway through Row 5.  I started Row 5 over the weekend and my plan is to get halfway through Row 5.  I am not cross stitching as often as I was so I’m not getting through each row as quickly as I was.  I hope that changes after the holiday.
  • St. Patty’s Socks and Secret Mandala sock blank – I have to do about 45 rows on the foot before I can start decreasing for the toe.  My goal is to get halfway through.  I want these socks done in December and that will count for 2 socks for my box of socks in 2017. So if I do about 23 rows this week, 23 rows next week, then I can do the toe the final week of the year and complete my 12 pairs of socks in 2017 KAL!
  • Harry Potter – knit 2 rows per day.
  • On Ringo Lake – I haven’t really been quilting during the week so I hope I take a night or two to work on clue #3.

Happy Crafting!

~Melanie

Less than a month away…

We’re closing in fast on Christmas and are you ready? Here’s what I’ve done from last week’s to do list …

  • Secret Project #2 – DONE!  I’ve even taken the pictures and my page is ready to publish after this has been gifted.
  • Starting point Shawl – knit 3-4 rows per day.  I want to finish clue 4 this week. – DONE!  Clue 4 is finished and I’m working diligently on clue 5.  I have to do about 500 stitches per day in order to get this done by Christmas.  Which means, I need to do a bit more to get it blocked and wrapped.  I’m going to try.  At this point, I’ve got 172 stitches per row and every couple of rows, it decreases by 4.  Once there are no more stitches on this side, I have to do the same on the other side.  So going forward I have to watch stitch count versus number of rows.
  • Secret Project #3 – knit the final 3 inches so that I can work on the next part. – DONE!
  • Mama’s Bukid – Page 5, Row 3 – finish Row 3. – Done! I’m working on Row 4 and I’m actually about half way done with it.
  • St. Patty’s Socks and Secret Mandala sock blank that I’m knitting up congruently – do the last 10 rows so I can work on the heel. – Done! I’m working on the heel.
  • Harry Potter – do another set of 20 rows. – Not Done!  I only got 12 rows done.
  • And since this is Thanksgiving Week spend Black Friday with Bonnie Hunter’s first clue of her mystery quilt for this year! – Done!

My List for next week:

  • Starting point Shawl – knit 600 stitches per day. I want to be halfway through the first joining triangle this week or 25% through the final clue. Actually it would be great to be at 30% or more so I can be on track for finishing a bit early.
  • Secret Project #3 – Start the next one.  My goal was to create 3 of these but I’m going to stop 11/30 so I’ll be in the middle of the third one.  I’ll start up again in January and ship this off when it’s done.
  • Mama’s Bukid – Page 5, Row 4 – finish Row 4 and at the rate I’m going possibly get through half of Row 5.
  • St. Patty’s Socks and Secret Mandala sock blank that I’m knitting up congruently – I only have a few rows left working the back of the heel, my goal is to get that done, turn the heels and then pick up the stitches.  This week, I want to get my socks to the point where I can work on the foot.  I’m not going to get this done this month but I want to get them done in December.  That will complete my 12 socks for the year and I can start again in January.
  • Harry Potter – continue to work on this as I have time.
  • Finish Clue #1 of On Ringo Lake and work on Clue #2 on Friday.

Happy Crafting!
