I spent the whole day yesterday making progress on my projects.  I didn’t even make it out to my yoga class.  I better go today! 😀  Here’s the update and after yoga (I’m shooting for the early class today) I believe I’ve got another day to play.  Tomorrow I plan to finish up my shopping early and hopefully I’ll beat any crowds.

#1 – Allietare! – I got 1 set complete.  I plan to get a few more done today.

#5 – Cross Stitch Project – a bit more of the M is complete.  I’ll work a bit more today on that M.  I’d like to get the M done today and start working on the bottom border this week.

#6 – The Rosie Hat – this is coming along,  I know I haven’t taken any pictures because I always work on it at night while we’re watching basketball games and the lighting isn’t conducive to a nice picture.  I never think to take it out during the day. 🙁  But I’m working on crossing the cables and pretty soon I’ll be doing the full cable part.  I hope to remember to take pictures later today.

So today, I’ll work on Allietare, quilting Tell It To The Stars, cross stitch and my knitting.  I also plan to clean up my sewing room and if I’m up to it, maybe do some decluttering in my linen closet.

Stash Report – Week 49, 2015

First, the stash report!  Nothing added and nothing finished!

Used this week: 0 yards

Used year to Date: -47.5 yards
Added this week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 98.08 yards
Net Added for 2015: 50.58 yards

I was able to get some of the gray HSTs cut for part 2 of Allietare before we left for the day yesterday.  We had a blast yesterday at the Tea Festival in Little Tokyo.  Afterwards, we had a couple of hours to spare before tip off at the Clipper game so we ended up in Koreatown and went to a karaoke spot.  The kids and I had a great time singing our hearts out.  Then we went to the Clipper game and by halftime, I was done with the day.  I was so exhausted but I powered through and we won.  It was an exciting day.  Today, I’m going to start with Allietare and get some of the sets done.  Then I’ll just work down my weekend to do list.  I need a day of sewing from the last few very busy days. ;0

WIP Wednesday – 12/2/2015

Happy Wednesday!

Not much has been done since break.  I got a bit of knitting done and a bit of cross stitch done during the basketball game Monday night.  Last night, I was able to get the final side of border #2 on Hampton Ridge.  First I fussy cut the final side.  I made sure to read the measurements again.  I didn’t want to make any mistakes.

The next step is to miter those corners, then I can get Border #3 on.  I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get to this until Sunday.  I’ve got a bunch of evening activities these next few nights and I will need to have my full attention when I go in to actually miter.  I will try to get those strips to line up properly but we’ll see how it goes.

For those checking in from Freshly Pieced… Thanks for stopping by!

I quilted a bit more on Tell It To The Stars.  I need to do more than a bit but I find it tiring after each pass.  Then I’ve got all these other things I feel the need to get done that I never get back to it.

I finished cutting all but the background for Scrapitude.  I can do that throughout December.  I’ve still got 6 weeks left until the first clue. First, I need to decide what my background will be.

I didn’t have a chance to get back to piecing more HSTs for Allietare.  I have some units ready for piecing so I’ll be working on that later today.

Today, the plan is to continue quilting Tell It To the Stars, more HSTs for Allietare, and another leaf for Raining Cats and Dogs.  The next project I need to pull out is Hampton Ridge.  If I feel up to it and I have time, I’ll get going on that final side border #2.  I still do not have my piecing papers.  The quilt shop said they mailed it out a few weeks ago but I never received them.  I had some other mail mysteriously not get to me recently too so who knows what is happening.  The good thing is that they mailed me another set last Wednesday.  With the holidays upon us, I doubt I’ll get them in time to work with them this week.

For Razzle – I was able to finish piecing the blocks into rows.  Of course, I put it away before getting a good picture of it.  I got started on piecing the cornerstones with the sashes when I realized that I miscut them.  They’re supposed to be 3.5″ square but they’re not 3.5″ squares.  So, I will need to recut the next time this project comes into rotation.

The next project I need to pull out is Missing Ivy.  I will be going to the Clipper game today so I will not be able to get anything done today.  But this is the project I’ll be working on this week. The plan is to continue quilting on Tell It To The Stars.

Stash Report – Week 46, 2015

First, the stash report!  Went to my LQS this past week and got yardage for that final side of border #2 of Hampton Ridge.  I know I got way too much at +4 yards.  But I didn’t want to cut and piece the border.  Even with that info, I’m sure 4 yards is way too much but I needed at least 3 yards.  So I played it safe.  Not a big deal.  Now I’ll have plenty of dark fabric to add to my  stash!

I know, the lighting is horrible but by the time I got around to taking a picture, the lighting outside wasn’t much better.  Anyway, if you can see the needle to right of the arrow, the remaining part to applique down is from that needle to the end of the stem towards the left. The plan is to get to that today so that next weekend I can move on to the next bit.

For Celtic Solstice, I was able to get the three rows of Block A put together.  Now I get to pack it up and set it aside for next month.  I realized while I was working on these that it took forever because I was trimming dog ears and then piecing.  For that middle row, I was also pinning to try and get those points to match up with the middle of those 4 patches.

And I was able to get Tell It To The Stars onto the frame.

Yesterday was very productive in my house.

Today, I’ve got a lot more running around.  The girl is cheering at her school’s open house so I’ve got to wake her up soon to get ready and go.  The boy’s harvest festival is today too.  But he is not interested in going and we heard that it is supposed to rain today.  If that’s the case, he will definitely not want to go out.  I’ve got yoga shortly and more studying.  I also still want to go to that store where I’ve got a coupon at (it expires today!).

Here’s my quilty plan of action:

  • Continue to work a bit on Raining Cats and Dogs.
  • Start the quilting on Tell It To The Stars on it.
  • Cut for Scrapitude 2016.
  • Pull Razzle out and get going on that project for this week.

I’m still uncertain about joining Bonnie Hunter’s mystery.  I know last week I said I was going to and now this week I’m not sure again.  I started pulling fabrics from my stash and I’m not sure I’ve got enough of the colors she chose.  I’m waffling, I know, but I love the community around the mysteries each year.  That’s the best part.  I just don’t think I’ve got the time. Well, we’ll see how I feel  on Black Friday.

Stash Report – Week 45, 2015

First, the stash report!  Nothing In and Nothing Out

Used this week: 0 yards

Used year to Date: -47 yards
Added this week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 94.08 yards
Net Added for 2015: 46.58 yards

I was out and about yesterday and didn’t spend much time in the sewing room.  I was able to take out my scraps (they are overflowing) and start cutting out the pieces I need for Scrapitude 2016 called “Scrappy Stars around the Corner”.  First clue come out in January but Charlotte released the cutting instructions some time ago.  Since I was between projects and my scraps need to be used, I started cutting the “medium to dark” fabrics.  They’re easiest to pull out from the scrap bins.  I’m about halfway through.  Hopefully I’ll get all the needed pieces cut before the first clue.  It all comes together so much easier when everything is cut beforehand.

I’m still uncertain as to whether or not to do Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery QAL this year.  I do not want to buy fabric so I will need to use my stash.  I’m going to start with my scrap bins first and then move over to yardage if I need to.  I like the color selection so I’ll play along for now.  The best thing about the QAL is the community that comes together for it.  I love being able to see everyone’s progress and sharing my own.  I still need to create a project page for this.

This past week, I’ve been working on the borders for Hampton Ridge.  The previous posts this week goes into the hurdles and challenges of border #2 but here’s the last picture of it before I packed it away.  It’s not a great one but it’s what I’ve got!  There is a third and a fourth border left and I may start working on the fourth border’s HSTs (350 of them) as leaders/enders of the other projects I’ll be working on in the next 4 weeks.

Woohoo!  Now I’m ready to put this aside for a month while I work on something else this week.

But first – an update on Raining Cats and Dogs.

I haven’t done anything since last week.  I only work on this project over the weekend and I was out yesterday.  I plan to get more of the stem appliqued down today.

Today here’s my plan of action:

  • Get Bonnie’s upcoming mystery QAL’s project page up
  • work a bit on Raining Cats and Dogs
  • Finish the practice quilt on Bailey and get Tell It To The Stars on it.

I’ve already packed up Hampton Ridge and the next project is Celtic Solstice.  Remember Celtic Solstice?  I was getting so bored with it last month?  I’m still not excited to work on it but I’m heading into the home stretch and I’m making more of these blocks:

Weekend Lineup

Hampton Ridge
3 sides of Border #2 on
11/6/15

Don’t mind the horrible picture.  I’ll get a better one once that final side is on.  I didn’t think I’d make it this week but I got 3 side of border #2 on Hampton Ridge.  As I said in a yesterday’s post, I decided after I started cutting to stay within certain parameters of the design.  As a result, I didn’t have enough for all 4 sides of border #2.  I will be heading the LQS at some point to look for more of this fabric so that when I get to this project again (a month from now) I have the fabric to finish this final side.  I’m a little at a loss as I’m not sure what to do now.  I do not have enough time to break out one of the quilt tops and get them on the frame but I want to be doing something.  I plan to get Scrapitude onto Bailey on Sunday since I have all day to play with that.  But today, I’ll get a bit more done on Raining Cats and Dogs but I’m not sure what I’ll do next.  We’ve got a whole day planned.  We have a wedding to attend, a festival in LA, and a Clipper game versus the Rockets!  That should be a great game!  I’ll be taking pictures so be sure to follow me on instagram @ThousandNeedles.
