Have yourself a quilty little Christmas!
September Kit
Block 1 – in progress
9/21/2016

I woke up way too early at 2:30am.  And I couldn’t go back to sleep so I used the found time to work on the first block for Have yourself a quilty little Christmas!  As fiddly as this block is, I actually enjoyed making them and watching the seems come together so nicely.  I admit I over-pinned each part.  I waited for the sun to come out so I can take a good picture and post my progress for you.  It’s still not finished yet as I’ve got sashing and stuff to add before I can move on but I should get that done pretty quickly.

I do have a meeting tonight for one of the committees I’m in with my quilt guild.  We’re having a Sewing Room Tour at 7 homes throughout the San Fernando Valley on Sunday.  I’m excited to see the homes but I can’t wait for this to be done.  Now that the hubby is working, I have had to seriously take a look at all my commitments and reevaluate my involvement.  As much as I enjoyed being a part of the committee, I will not be able to do any more at this time.  I will still be part of the guild and take part in the regular member activities.  I hope that as I get used to my new normal I’ll be able to do something later.

I’ve been binding Hampton Ridge!  I’m not even close to finishing since I’m still only on the first side but every little bit helps.  I’m trying to get this done this week but other obligations keep getting in the way.

and just to remind you what the top of the quilt looks like!

Have yourself a little quilty Christmas! August kit - Block 1 8/17/2016

Have yourself a little quilty Christmas!
August kit –
Block 1

I’m working on getting the 3 blocks for August done.  There’s a lot of little fiddly pieces and the worse part is cutting all those pieces.  But it’s so cute and I’m enjoying the process and the fabric.  During the middle of the work week I spend one evening cutting and the other evening piecing everything together.  This is the first block and I hope I can get the other 2 blocks completed by the end of the week.  Wish me luck! 🙂

  Happy Wednesday!

Oh my goodness, friends!  Guess what happened to me… ???   My guild’s treasure hunt was last Monday and I got a lot of fabulous stuff! Here’s my haul ..

all for $12… I think there’s 6.5 yards there!

Then at the end of the night, to empty all the fabric, the guild sold fabric at $1/bag… The bag was the size of a regular grocery plastic bag and I fit all of this … for $1!

I don’t know how much this is in yardage but my stash report is not looking too good on Sunday!

And … I won this in the auction for $5!

I just have to quilt it and it will be a nice table runner.

Spooky Halloween Row 2, Block 1 ...in progress... 8/3/16

Spooky Halloween
Row 2, Block 1
…in progress…

Last week I was able to piece down all the pieces I prepped so I prepped the next set of pieces.  I’ll be working on these over the next few weeks.  Hand applique is a slow process but I enjoy it.  I’ll machine applique when the pieces are larger.

Yesterday, we made the trek over to Vegas to enjoy our summer before the kids go back to school next week.  I can work from my hotel room for a few hours every morning and do family stuff in the afternoon.  We left the house at 5am and made it to the state line by about 9:45.  I had a conference call at 10:30 so while the kids played at the arcade I bunkered up in the car with my laptop and my phone.  Then we drove the final hour to BabyStacks to have some red velvet pancakes.  I love them!  The girl and I shared because the plate comes with 6 midsize pancakes.  More than enough for one person.  Then we went to UNLV to check out the school and buy some Rebels paraphernalia.  None of us are UNLV alumnus but we had fun hanging out a few hours while we waited for the right time to check in.

It was hot!  Not sure the kids would like to go here when the time comes but it was a nice visit.

And here’s our view from one of the windows in our hotel room:

I brought my handwork with me so I’ll be working on them during our time here.

Have Yourself a Quilty Little Christmas!
block 2

Here’s the second block for Have Yourself a Quilty Little Christmas.  It takes a lot longer than it looks.  I plan to get a block a week finished since we get 4 blocks per month.  I’m already a month behind so I’m trying to get 2 blocks a week finished until I catch up.  Since it took me a couple of hours to finish this block I’m not sure I have the patience to do 2 blocks a week.

I don’t think I’ve fessed this up yet but … I joined another BOM at my LQS.  It’s called Have Yourself a Quilty Little Christmas! And the link to it is here. It started last month but June was taken up with the vacay so I just started working on it.  It’s based on Lori Holt’s book “Quilty Fun!”  I still need to create a project page for this but I wanted to get this picture posted for now. 🙂
