WIP Wednesday – 3/2/2016

Happy Wednesday!

I pulled out Celtic Solstice to work on this week a bit at a time as I found it.  I need to make a bunch of Block A’s.  Here are 24 blocks finished and I need more.

WIP Wednesday – 1/13/2016

Happy Wednesday!

My sewing area is still surrounded by scrapbooking bags but I managed to find a space (my lap) to pin pieces of my Celtic Solstice.  I woke up way too early this morning so I took the opportunity to trim and pin.  Didn’t get a chance to sew them together but they can wait patiently until I get a chance.

Another week, and not a lot of progress made.

I need to make a lot of these blocks and I’m probably a third of the way through.  I’m just trying to do a bit at a time so that eventually they will get done.  I’m taking my time. Snipping the little ears, pinning, piecing, pressing.  I’m trying to be precise.  There’s no rush and I’m enjoying the meditative process of it all.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t make exciting blog posts or pictures. 🙂

It’s Friday and another clue to Allietare comes out today!  Unfortunately, I’m out of town this weekend so I will not be getting much done on that front.  I will be taking my hand work with me though: Raining Cats and Dogs!  I did start working on getting the cat on but it required a lot of thinking and hard work to get the head on so I stopped to rest as soon as it was on.  I wasn’t able to take a good picture yet so the old picture and your imagination will have to do. 🙂

Monday Madness – 12/7/2015

Wow, with a very busy schedule last week, I really needed a Sunday just to sit in my sewing room and relax with my crafts.  I got a lot done yesterday.

For Allietare, I got 3 sets of this week’s clue completed.

As you can see, the pink flower on the top right is complete now.  I’m working on getting the letter “M” finished and then I”ll work on the bottom part.

I got all the background quilted for Tell It To The Stars.  Now I’ve changed threads and I’m working on quilting the dark blue parts of the quilt.  I’m not loving the quilting.  I’m actually really mad at the mid arm and the frame.  It pulls and is hard to move in certain parts of the frame.  It also needs to be seriously cleaned.  I did my best before I started quilting Tell It To The Stars but now I see that it really needs to be professionally serviced.  I’m going to start saving for a new frame because once the mid arm is cleaned, I think a new frame will help me.  But that’s not going to happen anytime soon so I’ll continue using what I’ve got.  In the meantime, I need to use easy meandering quilting and not try to do anything more complicated that that.  I probably should continue to watch youtube videos and look to see what other Bailey owners feel about their machines.

I’m looking forward to a great week!

I hope to get more rows knitted on the Rosie Hat.

That’s a very ambitious list so I’ll take things slowly and do what I can.  Especially since today we’ll be heading off to downtown to a Tea Festival and then ending the day at a Clipper game.  Follow me on Instagram @thousandneedles to see the pics I share!

Have a great crafty Saturday!

This Weekend’s Laundry List

I couldn’t wait for the weekend to come quick enough.  This week I was sick and my Clippers lost and wow! were we busy!  I was off my game.  I missed my gratitude post too many times to count.  But now it’s the weekend.  I still have a lot to do but I have time and I’m feeling better but not 100%.  The goal is that by Monday, I’m back to my normal self and I can get back to my regular regime.

Today I’m off to the SFVMQG Sew In at my favorite LQS.  But first, I’ve got to get some studying done.

At the sew in, here’s my list for today:

  • Raining Cats and Dogs

    Raining Cats and Dogs 11/15/2015

    Raining Cats and Dogs
    11/15/2015

    – need to get that flower appliqued down.  and get a better picture to post.

  • Razzle
  • Design Floor Razzle 11/15/2015

I need to piece all the sashing together, piece the cornerstones, and get the rows all together.

Stash Report – Week 46, 2015

First, the stash report!  Went to my LQS this past week and got yardage for that final side of border #2 of Hampton Ridge.  I know I got way too much at +4 yards.  But I didn’t want to cut and piece the border.  Even with that info, I’m sure 4 yards is way too much but I needed at least 3 yards.  So I played it safe.  Not a big deal.  Now I’ll have plenty of dark fabric to add to my  stash!

Used this week: 0 yards

Used year to Date: -47.5 yards
Added this week: 4 yards
Added Year to Date: 98.08 yards
Net Added for 2015: 50.58 yards

Here’s what I got done from yesterday’s laundry list!

On Raining Cats and Dogs.

I know, the lighting is horrible but by the time I got around to taking a picture, the lighting outside wasn’t much better.  Anyway, if you can see the needle to right of the arrow, the remaining part to applique down is from that needle to the end of the stem towards the left. The plan is to get to that today so that next weekend I can move on to the next bit.

For Celtic Solstice, I was able to get the three rows of Block A put together.  Now I get to pack it up and set it aside for next month.  I realized while I was working on these that it took forever because I was trimming dog ears and then piecing.  For that middle row, I was also pinning to try and get those points to match up with the middle of those 4 patches.

And I was able to get Tell It To The Stars onto the frame.

IMG_8739

Yesterday was very productive in my house.

Today, I’ve got a lot more running around.  The girl is cheering at her school’s open house so I’ve got to wake her up soon to get ready and go.  The boy’s harvest festival is today too.  But he is not interested in going and we heard that it is supposed to rain today.  If that’s the case, he will definitely not want to go out.  I’ve got yoga shortly and more studying.  I also still want to go to that store where I’ve got a coupon at (it expires today!).

Here’s my quilty plan of action:

  • Continue to work a bit on Raining Cats and Dogs.
  • Start the quilting on Tell It To The Stars on it.
  • Cut for Scrapitude 2016.
  • Pull Razzle out and get going on that project for this week.

I’m still uncertain about joining Bonnie Hunter’s mystery.  I know last week I said I was going to and now this week I’m not sure again.  I started pulling fabrics from my stash and I’m not sure I’ve got enough of the colors she chose.  I’m waffling, I know, but I love the community around the mysteries each year.  That’s the best part.  I just don’t think I’ve got the time. Well, we’ll see how I feel  on Black Friday.

This Weekend’s Laundry List

It is Saturday again!  Woohoo, it’s the weekend.  The hubby is taking the boys to the game today so I’ve got the whole day to myself.  Of course, I’ve got the kids but my kids are practically grown and can pretty much watch themselves.  The girl had a late night cheering for her football team at the first playoff game.  So she’ll probably sleep most of the day away.  The boy is planning on spending a lot of his day playing with a friend online.  He doesn’t normally do this but he just bought a new game last weekend and he’s been making plans with his classmates all week.  One day is not going to kill him. ;0  So that leaves me free to do whatever I want… Unfortunately, I have more than quilting to do today.  I’ve got yoga and studying and something for work that I’ve been procrastinating on and there’s this coupon at my favorite clothing store that expires on Sunday and I need to go back into the garage to find something to throw away…  Those are the 5 things outside of quilting that I plan on doing today.  For quilting… here’s my list:

  • Raining Cats and Dogs
Raining Cats and Dogs Stem down 11/1/2015

    Raining Cats and Dogs

I’m still working on Celtic Solstice! 🙂  This is the week.

I got a little further … I’m working on the first row attaching the third 4-patch to the rest of the row.  But I’m just plugging away.  I know!  Nothing sexy like a finish.  But, it is what it is.  Hopefully I’m inspiring you to plug away at those projects that you’d rather toss in the UFO pile.  🙂

Happy Wednesday!

If you know Bonnie Hunter, you know there are a lot of these that I have to make.  I’m working on piecing the first two squares of the third row.  The plan is to get these done today and move back to the first row to piece that third square on to the first two squares.  It’s very slow progress since I haven’t spent a ton of time in front of the sewing machine.  But progress is progress and every little piece put together is one more piece towards completion! 🙂
