This Weekend’s Laundry List

I couldn’t wait for the weekend to come quick enough.  This week I was sick and my Clippers lost and wow! were we busy!  I was off my game.  I missed my gratitude post too many times to count.  But now it’s the weekend.  I still have a lot to do but I have time and I’m feeling better but not 100%.  The goal is that by Monday, I’m back to my normal self and I can get back to my regular regime.

Today I’m off to the SFVMQG Sew In at my favorite LQS.  But first, I’ve got to get some studying done.

At the sew in, here’s my list for today:

Weekend Line Up

Razzle has been the project of the week and I finished piecing the last strip of white corduroy onto the parts I’m putting together.

Well, I do not have enough of these finished strips.  I need about 50 and I’m about 10 shy of 50.  I kept thinking that I must have counted wrong and triple counted everything over again.  And each time, I ended up with 40 completed strips.  I have about 10 half way done.  There was not enough white corduroy included in the kit originally.

Thank goodness that I have the ability to order online and get another yard of white corduroy.  And I discovered this issue at the end of the week, so I can jump on Project #4 a day early and leave Razzle for next month.

The plan for today is to applique the next piece for Raining Cats and Dogs.

Pack up Razzle, update my project page so I remember where I left off for next month.

And pull out Missing Ivy to work on this week.

Yes, the last time I worked on this was in 2013.  Remember I’m pulling out old UFOs and getting them going again.  I also have Bailey out of the garage and in my living room.  I’m having some technical difficulties on it so I’m not going to do anything with it today.  But I hope to have some time to try to get it to work again tomorrow.  I spent all afternoon on it yesterday and I really want to work with fabric so I’ll be putting off machine work until tomorrow. 🙂

Project Rotation:

  1. backing for Moon Glow / borders for Hampton Ridge
  2. Block A in for Celtic Solstice
  3. Razzle
  4. Missing Ivy

Happy quilting friends! 🙂

WIP Wednesday – 10/21/2015

Happy Wednesday!

I’ve set Celtic Solstice aside for a bit.  Step 5 took way too long but it’s done now.  Catching up with my long time UFO, Razzle, in the meantime…

Razzle is made up of corduroy fabric.  I love the fabric.  It’s so fun and soft!  But not so fun to piece with.  There is a LOT of lint and fuzz and I have to clean my sewing machine a lot.

I need 49 of these strips:

Most of them are still at this stage:

But are hanging out at the pressing station:

I’ll be taking time pressing today and will work on getting the other side of that white strip pieced together to the unit.

Here are the blocks that they will be sashing:

Yup, the last time I worked on this project was May of 2014!  Time sure flies…

Stash Report – Week 38, 2015

Nothing in or out!  But a little progress was made on my various projects.  I was able to get the “No Dogs” sign appliqued on to Block 7 of Raining Cats and Dogs.

Here’s a picture of the full block as it is now.  I’m trying to work on this one piece at a time on the weekends.  So today the plan is to get the dog’s tail on.

I was also able to get Hampton Ridge go from 6 rows to 3 rows.  The next step is to get it into 2 rows, then 1 piece!  I’m loving how this is turning out.  Once I get that inner top done, I’ll pull out the border fabric and start working on getting that on.

I worked a little bit on Celtic Solstice too but it’s just a bunch of HSTs and white triangles right now.  I need to be patient because here’s the part where my precision starts to slacken.  This is why I only do a few at a time because after about 20 of these things, they all start to blend together.  I took out the Corduroy Quilt – Razzle – yesterday but didn’t have a chance to actually do anything.  So today I’ll be adding it to the rotation.  Here’s the plan:

  1. At the pressing stations
    1. press the white fabric (because I still need to cut about 50 pairs of the 2″ triangles)
    2. press the random pieces I pieced together as leaders and enders between project yesterday
    3. press the Celtic Solstice pieces that are already have one of the white triangles pieced with an HST
  2. Go through Razzle and see where I’m at
  3. At the cutting station
    1. Cut the white fabric for the 50 pairs
    2. Cut for Razzle if I need to
  4. At the piecing station
    1. piece the white triangles to the HSTs for Celtic Solstice
    2. piece Razzle together.

Here’s the numbers this week:

Used this week: 0 yards

Used year to Date: -47 yards
Added this week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 87.08 yards
Net Added for 2015: 39.58 yards

Weekend Lineup

This weekend, the plan is to do a bit on Raining Cats and Dogs, do a bit on Hampton Ridge, do a bit on Celtic Solstice, and try to find something I enjoy doing that I can sprinkle Celtic Solstice into.

I was able to get some cutting done for the Celtic Solstice but I still need 50 more pairs of those little white HSTs I mentioned on a previous post. When I realized that I needed more I had a bunch of white larger triangles that I cut down to size.  Then I went through the Scrap Bin #3 to find any white/light cream scraps.  Well I cut them all and I still need 50 pairs.  So I went through Scrap Bin #4 and found more white fabric I can use.  Next step: press and cut.  But I’m thrilled that I was able to reduce the scrap bins!  It’s the little things in life we find enjoyment in, right?

Well since I’m bored with Celtic Solstice, I’m pulling the next project on my quilt list.  There are other things in my goal list – one is knitting and another one is finishing a mini-project like a bag or something.  But I’m not enthused about either of those items.  So, the next quilt project is the Corduroy quilt!  I’ll leave you with a picture from when I last worked on that project in 2014:
