Maw-valous Monday!

Forget the housework!  I decided to have a crafty Sunday and didn’t do anything other than my creative outlets yesterday.  It was heavenly!  And a much needed break.

Missing Ivy 9/25/16

Missing Ivy
9/25/16

I got two sides up of the pieced border for Missing Ivy.  After I finish getting the top and bottom on I will still have 3 more borders to attach.  Almost done…. yay!

Here was my list last week:

  • Hampton Ridge – Continue to hand stitch the binding.  I am on my third side so I’m hoping that this will get done this week.  … I’m working on that 4th side.  Hopefully it gets done tonight while we’re watching Monday Night Football.
  • Celtic Solstice – Get more block Bs done! … I have about 10 blocks done and I’m still working on these as leaders/enders.  They’re kind of big for leaders/enders and I have to pin each piece but they’re getting done slowly and I’m loving that.
  • Missing Ivy – Get the next 2 borders (#5 and 6) on. The borders are already prepped.  I just need to measure, cut, pin, and sew! …I was able to get #5 on and 2 of the sides for #6.
  • Spooky Halloween … Row 2, block 1 – I’ve got the bat left and the embroidery.  It would be wonderful to be done with this block this week. …I didn’t touch this this week.
  • Have yourself a quilty little Christmas! – I picked up this month’s kit last Thursday and I wanted to jump on it this weekend.  I didn’t because I had a lot of stuff to do and the bit of crafty time I had I spent binding Hampton Ridge or prepping the borders of Missing Ivy. …I was able to get the first block done for this month’s kit.  It’s not high on my to do list but serves as a nice distraction when I need it.
  • Provence – press the blocks and figure out what’s the next step for this. …this continues to remain on my to do list and linger around not getting much love.  And it will need to stay that way for awhile.

So this week, here’s my target (really short this week):

  • Hampton Ridge – Continue to hand stitch the binding.  Finish the last side and get the label on.  This is my last week of September so no more excuses.  This needs to get done!
  • Celtic Solstice – Get more block Bs done! …
  • Missing Ivy – Get the next 2 borders (#6 and 7) on. I would actually really love it if I could finish this top this week.  With the rate I’ve been going with these borders, it doesn’t look like that will happen but I will shoot for getting all remaining borders on this week.

I’m looking forward to a great week!

Maw-valous Monday!

Last week was tough.  The hubby started working a few weeks ago and I’m having a difficult time adjusting.  After more than 5 years of not having certain responsibilities, I suddenly am finding myself needing to do things like cooking, cleaning, picking up the kiddos from school… I could go on and on.  So my crafty time is being taken up with these things.  And the bit of time I am able to do anything – I’m using it to bind Hampton Ridge.  Not much to take pictures on!

Here was my list last week:

  • Hampton Ridge – Hand stitch the binding. … I worked on this but it is still not done.
  • Celtic Solstice – Get more block Bs done! … I got a couple more blocks done. 🙂
  • Missing Ivy – Get the next 2 borders (#3 and 4) on. … done.. just barely as I finished this yesterday.  I need to press it and get a picture for you.
  • Provence – press the blocks and figure out what’s the next step for this. … not done …
  • Spooky Halloween … Row 2, block 1 – try a different method to appliqué the remaining leaves and bat. … I fused it, machine appliquéd it and didn’t like how it looked.  I am messing with the specs and I’m hoping that I will find a spec that I will like.

So this week, here’s my target:

  • Hampton Ridge – Continue to hand stitch the binding.  I am on my third side so I’m hoping that this will get done this week.
  • Celtic Solstice – Get more block Bs done!

Here was my list last week:

  • Hampton Ridge – Buy fabric to bind this, and get it on the quilt! … done… I was able to get the fabric and machine bind it to the front.  Next step is to hand sew the binding to the back.  I’m seeing the finish line…
  • Celtic Solstice – continue to finish more rows of block b as my leaders/enders. …I’ve finally got all the rows done for Block B and now I’m working on getting the blocks all put together.  I was able to get 2 done last week!
  • Missing Ivy – Get the borders on… There are something like 9 borders for this quilt.  Do the first 2 this week. … done… I got 2 done and halfway through the 3rd border.
  • Provence – press the blocks and figure out what’s the next step for this. … nothing…
  • Spooky Halloween … Row 2, block 1 – try a different method to applique the remaining leaves and bat. … not done…

HAPPY LABOR DAY!

Spooky Halloween Row 2, Block 1 ...still in progress... 9/5/16

Progress on Spooky Halloween: Last week I was loving the applique and the process.  This week I’m frustrated and I’m looking for an easier way to get those tiny green wings/leaves on clearly.  Any ideas?  I’m thinking fusing them on and machine stitching them.

img_2393

I picked up the 5th row and I can go back to piecing everything I can piece for the 5th row but I’m playing on the new machine.  Yesterday, I was able to set the sew ezi with the new set up and I got the extra accessory piece too.  Then I got the new machine in it and started playing with it.  I spent the remaining bit of time getting the borders on to Missing Ivy.  While I was getting everything organized with the stuff for the new machine, I looked for my leftover fabric for Hampton Ridge.  I couldn’t find it.  I know it’s there somewhere but I didn’t have the energy to do the kind of searching I new needed to be done.  It’s just easier to go buy a yard and help support my favorite LQS. ;0 And… who knows what else I could find.

Here was my list last week:

  • Hampton Ridge – This is my OMG for August and I’ve only got 3 days left to finish it up.  I want to get the last 2 borders quilted and start on the binding.  I don’t think I’ll have enough time to finish it up for August so I’ll have to move this on to my September OMG. … I have this quilted and all that is left is to bind it!
  • Celtic Solstice – continue to finish more rows of block b as my leaders/enders. … yes… this is being worked on…
  • Missing Ivy – Get fabric for the borders. … done
  • Provence – press the blocks and figure out what’s the next step for this. … not done
  • Spooky Halloween … Row 2, block 1 – applique the leaves and bat. … I did one of the leaves.  It’s hard.

So this week, here’s my target:

  • Hampton Ridge – Buy fabric to bind this, and get it on the quilt!
  • Celtic Solstice – continue to finish more rows of block b as my leaders/enders.
  • Missing Ivy – Get the borders on… There are something like 9 borders for this quilt.  Do the first 2 this week.
  • Provence – press the blocks and figure out what’s the next step for this.

Spooky Halloween Row 2, Block 1 ...in progress... 8/29/16

Spooky Halloween
Row 2, Block 1
…in progress…
8/29/16

Progress on Spooky Halloween: I’ve pieced everything I can piece for the first 4 rows of Spooky Halloween.  I’m back to working on the applique for Block 1 of Row 2.  It’s a very slow process but I’m enjoying it at the moment and that’s the most important thing right now.  I will not hand applique every block.  I plan to mix machine applique with hand depending on the block and the effect I want to achieve.  I am excited thought because I’m pretty close to the finish.  Next step will be to do the embroidery. 🙂

Here was my list last week:

  • Hampton Ridge – quilt this… kind of done.  I quilted the main body of the quilt but I still need to quilt the borders of the sides on my domestic.
  • Celtic Solstice – work on this as my leaders/enders while I piece Spooky Halloween together. …done.  I counted up the rows for block B and I’ve got a little more than 20 to left to do.
  • Missing Ivy – start putting the borders on…I tried to start this this week but I ran out of fabric.  I need to go to my LQS and look for more coordinating fabric.
  • Provence – press the blocks and figure out what’s the next step for this. …not done…
  • Spooky Halloween … get all the piecing done for Row 3 and 4 and continue appliquè Row 2, block 1 … done!

So this week, here’s my target:

  • Hampton Ridge – This is my OMG for August and I’ve only got 3 days left to finish it up.  I want to get the last 2 borders quilted and start on the binding.  I don’t think I’ll have enough time to finish it up for August so I’ll have to move this on to my September OMG.

Maw-valous Monday!

Spooky Halloween Row 3, Block 3 8/22/16

Spooky Halloween
Row 3, Block 3
8/22/16

I’m slowly working on the piecing for Row 3 and 4 for Spooky Halloween.

Here was my list last week:

  • Hampton Ridge – prep the batting … I want to get this on the frame this week — the batting is ready but this is not yet on the frame.  I’m actually contemplating renting time on the long arm at a local sewing machine shop.  I’ll let you know how it goes…
  • Celtic Solstice – hold off on this as Missing Ivy’s border prep is being worked on as my leaders/enders while I work on Spooky Halloween pieced blocks and Have yourself a Quilty Little Christmas… done… I finished what I could do for leaders/enders and now I’m back to putting together the rows for block b.
  • Missing Ivy – prep this border as my leaders/enders … done… the pieced border is done and now I’m ready to move on to the next step of Missing Ivy.
  • Provence – hold off on this one
  • Spooky Halloween … Row 2, block 1 – continue to applique more pieces and get a pieced block done.  I’m tired of not getting anything finished for this quilt even though I’m working on it.  Handwork is so slow and I need to get a pieced block done so I feel like I’m making progress here.  I just picked up Row 4 so I’ve got pieced blocks I can work on in Row 3 and Row 4. … started working on getting the pieced blocks done.
  • Have yourself a Quilty Little Christmas … create my project page and Month 3: block 1 … done (woot woot!)

So this week, here’s my target:

  • Hampton Ridge – quilt this
  • Celtic Solstice – work on this as my leaders/enders while I piece Spooky Halloween together.
  • Missing Ivy – start putting the borders on
  • Provence – press the blocks and figure out what’s the next step for this.
  • Spooky Halloween … get all the piecing done for Row 3 and 4 and continue appliquè Row 2, block 1

I’m looking forward to a great week!
